Leveraging the synergies between music, health, and technology can facilitate remarkable advances in both individual and collective well-being. Recognizing this potential, the\u00a0Indian Institute of Technology Mandi<\/a>\u2019s<\/u>\u00a0Centre for Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Application (IKSHMA) is launching the first-of-its-kind M.S. (by research) and PhD programs in Music and Musopathy.<\/p>\n

This initiative underscores our commitment to promoting interdisciplinary learning and contributing to the highly regarded field of Indian music and the burgeoning field of Musopathy. The program is open to both full-time and part-time candidates and can be pursued live, online, or in a hybrid format by all qualifying candidates, regardless of geographical location.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the new program, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, said,\u00a0<\/b>“IIT Mandi is committed to developing science and technology relevant to the Indian knowledge system. The M.S. and PhD programs in Music and Musopathy represent another significant step in this endeavor.\u00a0<\/i>This program will not only explore the science of Indian music, but also its therapeutic value for the holistic well-being of mind, body, and consciousness.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

The M.S. and PhD programs in Music and Musopathy are research-based, aimed at producing highly skilled professionals and researchers who can contribute meaningfully to the development and understanding of music and its beneficial impacts on individuals and society, including the wellness-centric field of Musopathy.<\/p>\n

These programs offer a comprehensive education in Music and Musopathy, covering foundational, intermediate, and advanced aspects, all enriched by the expertise of the IKSMHA Centre.<\/p>\n

Celebrity Advisors:\u00a0<\/b>Celebrity Advisors:\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0Icons of music, dance, and science have come together in this first of its kind program.\u00a0 Padma Vibhushan Awardee Dr Sonal Mansingh, percussion maestro Prof Trichy Sankaran, Professor Emeritus, York University, Canada, and the preeminent scientist Dr Gautam Desiraju, Prof Emeritus, IISc Bangalore need no introduction whatsoever nor does Mr. Chitravina N Ravikiran who has helped design parts of the program in collaboration with the premier music education portal,\u00a0www.acharyanet.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
