His demise marks the loss of a distinguished soldier whose life embodied courage, sacrifice, and national service.<\/p>\n

Paying homage, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended heartfelt condolences and lauded the officer\u2019s exceptional contribution to the nation. In his message, he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cDeeply saddened by the passing of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk. He was a highly decorated officer of the Indian Army, renowned for his gallantry, resolute leadership and unwavering commitment to duty. A proud son of Ladakh, he exemplified the spirit of the region\u2014resilient, steadfast and deeply rooted in service to the Nation, while standing as a symbol of India\u2019s unity in diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Col. Wangchuk, a proud son of Ladakh, earned immense respect for his fearless leadership during the Kargil War. His role in Operation Vijay remains one of the most inspiring chapters of his military career.<\/p>\n

Further highlighting his bravery, Rajnath Singh added: \u201cHis courageous actions of leading by personal example during Operation Vijay inspired his men under the most demanding high-altitude conditions.
