Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi\u2013Dehradun Economic Corridor, marking a major milestone in infrastructure development for Uttarakhand and the surrounding regions. Addressing a large gathering in Dehradun, the Prime Minister described the corridor as a world-class project that will enhance connectivity, accelerate economic growth, and promote tourism.<\/p>\n

Extending greetings on the festive occasions of Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, and Puthandu, the Prime Minister highlighted the spiritual significance of Devbhoomi and noted the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, which attracts millions of devotees annually. He said the expressway will make travel to key religious and tourist destinations like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, and the Char Dham circuit faster and more convenient.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing the transformative impact of the corridor, Modi stated that it will significantly reduce travel time and costs, leading to savings in fuel and lower transportation expenses. The project, built with an investment of around Rs. 12,000 crore, has also generated substantial employment opportunities for engineers, workers, and associated sectors.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister noted that the corridor will benefit farmers, traders, and businesses by improving access to markets and boosting logistics and warehousing activities. He added that cities along the route, including Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur, are set to witness rapid development.<\/p>\n

Highlighting India\u2019s growing focus on infrastructure, he said that annual spending has increased from less than Rs. 2 lakh crore before 2014 to over Rs. 12 lakh crore today. He also pointed out that projects worth more than Rs. 2.25 lakh crore are currently underway in Uttarakhand.<\/p>\n

Underscoring the importance of balancing development with environmental protection, the Prime Minister mentioned the construction of a nearly 12-kilometre elevated wildlife corridor to ensure safe movement of animals. He also urged citizens and tourists to maintain cleanliness in the ecologically sensitive regions of Uttarakhand and avoid plastic waste.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister further spoke about tourism growth, noting a sharp rise in winter pilgrimage and visits to sites like Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. He said increased tourism would benefit local businesses, including hotels, transport services, and homestays.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming the government\u2019s commitment to women\u2019s empowerment, Modi highlighted the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which provides 33 percent reservation for women in legislative bodies, and called for collective support to implement it by 2029.<\/p>\n

He also paid tribute to the legacy of B. R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, emphasizing the government\u2019s dedication to upholding constitutional values and social justice.<\/p>\n

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said that the expressway represents a blend of development, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility.
