A sudden storm turned deadly in the Ani subdivision of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday evening, when a massive pine tree was uprooted by strong winds and fell onto a moving vehicle, killing four women teachers and injuring three others.<\/p>\n

The tragic incident occurred along the Shamsher\u2013Gugra road near Bali-Kol, where a (registration number HP01K-4621) was carrying seven occupants, including the driver. According to officials, six of the passengers were school teachers returning from duty when the storm struck the area with intense winds and a thunderstorm.<\/p>\n

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ani, Laxman Kanet, confirmed that the powerful gusts uprooted a large pine tree, which came crashing down directly onto the vehicle. The impact caused the driver to lose control, sending the vehicle off the road where it was left severely mangled.<\/p>\n

Four women teachers were declared dead at the scene. The deceased have been identified as Sneh Lata (38) from Parlidhar, Banti Kaundal from Lamiseri, Usha Kumari (43) from Tarala, and Seema Azad (54) from Ropdi, all residents of different parts of Kullu district.<\/p>\n

Three others sustained injuries in the incident. The injured include Suresh Chand (42), Tara Devi (47), and Reena Kumari (40). They were immediately rushed to nearby medical facilities, where two critically injured women were later referred for advanced treatment, while the driver is currently undergoing care at Anni hospital.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses reported that passengers from a nearby bus and other motorists were the first to respond, initiating rescue efforts even before emergency services arrived. Soon after, teams from the police, fire brigade, and local administration reached the site and conducted coordinated rescue and evacuation operations.<\/p>\n

Doctors at the local hospital confirmed that the four women were brought dead. Authorities acted swiftly to provide immediate relief, with the SDM announcing financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 each to the families of the deceased and Rs. 5,000 each to those injured.<\/p>\n

Local MLA visited the hospital soon after the incident, met the grieving families, and assured them of all possible support during this difficult time.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. In his condolence message, he extended sympathies to the bereaved families, prayed for the peace of the departed souls, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He also directed the district administration to ensure comprehensive support and the best possible medical care.<\/p>\n

The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the Ani region and surrounding areas, highlighting the dangers posed by extreme weather in hilly terrain. Authorities have urged residents and commuters to exercise caution during storms, as such conditions can trigger landslides, falling trees, and other hazards.<\/p>\n
