In a major initiative aimed at strengthening India\u2019s position in the global wellness and natural products market, the Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) and the Spices Board of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday to promote Ayush products and medicinal spices worldwide.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, who described the partnership as a \u201cvisionary and forward-looking collaboration\u201d that would help position India as a global leader in holistic wellness and natural healing.<\/p>\n

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Anurag Sharma, Chairman of AYUSHEXCIL, and Shri M. S. Manivannan, IAS, Secretary of the Spices Board of India.<\/p>\n

Focus on Global Wellness Leadership<\/h4>\n

Addressing the gathering, Minister Prataprao Jadhav said Ayurveda and Indian spices have historically represented preventive healthcare, balanced living, and natural wellness traditions. He stated that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening India\u2019s traditional knowledge systems while creating economic opportunities for farmers, exporters, startups, MSMEs, and women entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

The Minister highlighted that the partnership will focus on key areas including quality enhancement, traceability systems, scientific validation, innovation, export promotion, and international market development. According to him, these efforts are expected to improve global confidence in Indian wellness and spice-based products.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpice and Heal\u201d Initiative<\/h4>\n

A major highlight of the collaboration is the proposed \u201cSpice and Heal\u201d initiative, which the Minister said could emerge as a strong international branding campaign for India\u2019s wellness industry. The initiative aims to combine the country\u2019s strengths in Ayurveda, medicinal plants, and spices to create a unique global identity in the field of holistic healthcare.<\/p>\n

He noted that the campaign aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, Make in India, and Heal in India. The Minister added that India\u2019s traditional wellness systems are increasingly being recognised as significant contributors to both global healthcare and economic growth.<\/p>\n

Benefits for Farmers, MSMEs and Exporters<\/h4>\n

Officials said the partnership is expected to open new avenues for export growth, rural development, employment generation, and international cooperation. The initiative is also aimed at supporting farmers involved in medicinal plant cultivation and spice production by improving access to global markets.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, AYUSHEXCIL and the Spices Board will jointly work on branding exercises, Codex engagement, scientific research, standardization, capacity building, traceability frameworks, and participation in international trade fairs.<\/p>\n

The collaboration will also support the development and promotion of functional foods, nutraceuticals, herbal extracts, and value-added Ayurvedic and spice-based products.<\/p>\n

Expanding India\u2019s Global Presence<\/h4>\n

Industry experts believe the partnership could significantly enhance India\u2019s visibility in the rapidly expanding global wellness economy. With rising international demand for natural healthcare products, herbal supplements, and medicinal spices, the agreement is expected to strengthen India\u2019s export competitiveness in these sectors.<\/p>\n
