President Appoints Six Additional Judges as Permanent Judges of Bombay High Court.<\/h1>\n

In a significant development for the judiciary, the President of India has appointed six Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court as Permanent Judges. The appointments were made in exercise of the powers conferred under the Constitution of India following consultation with the Chief Justice of India.<\/p>\n

According to an official notification issued by the Government of India on Friday, the following Additional Judges have been elevated and appointed as Permanent Judges of the Bombay High Court:<\/p>\n

1. Ms. Nivedita Prakash Mehta
\n2. Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar
\n3. Ashwin Damodar Bhobe
\n4. Rohit Wasudeo Joshi
\n5. Advait Mahendra Sethna
\n6. Pravin Sheshrao Patil<\/p>\n

The appointments were announced through a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice and communicated by Jagannath Srinivasan, Joint Secretary to the Government of India.<\/p>\n

Strengthening the Judicial System<\/h4>\n

The elevation of Additional Judges to Permanent Judges is considered an important step in strengthening the functioning and efficiency of the judiciary. Permanent appointments provide greater stability to the judicial system and help ensure the timely disposal of cases in one of the country’s busiest High Courts.<\/p>\n

The Bombay High Court, one of India’s oldest and most prominent High Courts, exercises jurisdiction over the states of Maharashtra and Goa, as well as the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The court handles a substantial volume of civil, criminal, constitutional, and commercial matters each year.<\/p>\n

Constitutional Process Followed<\/h4>\n

The appointments were made after due consultation with the Chief Justice of India, as required under the constitutional framework governing judicial appointments. The process reflects the established mechanism for evaluating the performance and suitability of Additional Judges before their confirmation as Permanent Judges.<\/p>\n

Legal experts believe that these appointments will contribute to improving judicial administration and strengthening the delivery of justice in the Bombay High Court.<\/p>\n
