In a significant move towards digital transformation and enhanced visitor convenience, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, on Saturday launched the \u2018NZP Saathi App\u2019 and inaugurated Self-Ticketing Kiosks at the National Zoological Park. The initiatives aim to provide a seamless and technology-driven experience for visitors while strengthening the zoo’s commitment to conservation education and efficient management.<\/p>\n

The Minister’s visit began with an inspection of an exhibition showcasing creative works prepared by students who participated in the recently concluded Summer Vacation Programme 2026. Appreciating the enthusiasm and artistic talent displayed by the young participants, Singh praised the zoo authorities for conducting educational and awareness programmes that help nurture a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation among children and students.<\/p>\n

Smart Digital Guide for Visitors<\/h4>\n

A key highlight of the visit was the launch of the NZP Saathi App, a smart digital zoo guide designed to make navigation within the zoo easier and more interactive. Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the application features an interactive digital map and smart navigation system that allows visitors to easily locate animal enclosures, washrooms, buggy points, exits and other essential facilities.<\/p>\n

The app also offers several thematic tour options, including Express Tour, Family Tour, Grand Zoo Tour, and a customised \u201cMy Tour\u201d feature, enabling visitors to tailor their zoo experience according to their interests and available time.<\/p>\n

Officials stated that the app is expected to significantly improve visitor engagement while providing educational information about the zoo and its diverse wildlife collection.<\/p>\n

Self-Ticketing Kiosks to Ease Entry Process<\/h4>\n

Alongside the app launch, the Minister inaugurated newly installed Self-Ticketing Kiosks aimed at simplifying the ticket booking process. The kiosks support UPI-based digital payments and are equipped with free Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing visitors to book tickets instantly on-site without waiting in long queues.<\/p>\n

Review of Zoo Operations and Animal Welfare<\/h4>\n

Following the inauguration ceremony, Singh held a comprehensive review meeting with officials and section in-charges of the zoo. Discussions focused on ongoing developmental initiatives, future modernization plans, and strategies to further improve operational efficiency and visitor facilities.<\/p>\n

The Minister also inspected the bird houses and reviewed the summer management arrangements made for the avian collection. During the visit, he assessed enclosure conditions and offered suggestions aimed at enhancing habitat management and animal welfare standards.<\/p>\n

At the zoo’s Veterinary Hospital, Singh interacted with veterinarians and animal healthcare staff, observing the treatment and care being provided to in-house sick animals. He held detailed discussions on healthcare protocols, disease management and veterinary practices adopted by the zoo administration.<\/p>\n

Visit to Asiatic Lion Enclosure<\/h4>\n

During his tour of the zoo, the Minister visited the Asiatic lion enclosure and observed the resident lions, Kartik and Karani. Expressing satisfaction with the upkeep of the animals and the maintenance of their habitat, he commended the staff for ensuring high standards of care and management.<\/p>\n

Concluding his visit, Singh lauded the dedication and hard work of the officers and staff of the National Zoological Park. He acknowledged their continuous efforts in promoting wildlife conservation, animal welfare, environmental awareness and public education.<\/p>\n
