In its continuing campaign against drug trafficking and narcotics-related crimes, the Mandi District Police achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering 517 grams of charas (cannabis resin) and arresting a young suspect in connection with the case.<\/p>\n

According to official information, the operation was carried out on June 12, 2026, by a team from Sadar Police Station during routine checkpoint duty and vehicle inspection on the four-lane highway in the Shila Kippad area. Police personnel had established a naka as part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal transportation of narcotic substances in the district.<\/p>\n

During the checking operation, officers stopped and searched a private bus that was travelling from the Pandoh side. During the inspection, the police recovered 517 grams of charas from the possession of a passenger.<\/p>\n

The accused has been identified as Aditya Negi (19), a resident of Kullu Tehsil. Following the recovery, police registered FIR No. 146\/2026 dated June 12, 2026, at Sadar Police Station under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused was immediately taken into custody.<\/p>\n

The arrested individual was produced before the competent court on Saturday. After hearing the matter, the Court granted three days of police remand to facilitate further investigation.<\/p>\n

Police officials stated that an in-depth investigation is currently underway to determine the source and intended destination of the seized contraband. Investigators are also examining whether other individuals were involved in the supply chain or transportation network linked to the recovered narcotic substance.<\/p>\n

The seizure is being viewed as an important success in the district police’s ongoing drive against drug trafficking. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against those involved in the illegal drug trade and have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against narcotics.<\/p>\n

Superintendent of Police, Mandi, Vinod Kumar said that the district police remain vigilant and are continuously conducting surveillance, vehicle checks, and intelligence-based operations to curb the menace of drug abuse and trafficking across the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
