The Sundernagar Unit of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) Pensioners Forum held its monthly meeting at the Suket Cinema Complex, Sundernagar, under the chairmanship of Unit President Er. K.S. Jamwal.<\/p>\n

At the outset, members paid tribute to the late Krishan Singh, a retired Foreman, and the mother of pensioner Dharam Prakash Sharma, who recently passed away. The gathering observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.<\/p>\n

Addressing the meeting, Unit President Er. K.S. Jamwal, General Secretary Sohan Singh Chauhan, and State Deputy General Secretary Jagmel Thakur highlighted several long-pending issues affecting pensioners and their families. They informed members that a formal meeting had been held on April 2, 2026, between a state-level delegation of the Pensioners Forum and the Director (Finance) of the Electricity Board.<\/p>\n

According to the Forum leaders, during the meeting, the Board management had clearly agreed to release lump-sum arrears to pensioners who had completed 70 years of age. It was also decided that the enhanced leave encashment benefits, gratuity payments, and service-related arrears due to all remaining pensioners, including those who retired between January 2016 and April 2022, would be released in a phased manner.<\/p>\n

However, the Forum expressed serious concern over the lack of concrete action by the Board management despite these assurances. The leaders stated that pensioners and their dependent family members feel neglected and deceived due to the prolonged delay in implementing the decisions.<\/p>\n

The meeting also took strong exception to the Board\u2019s failure to settle arrears relating to employees who had served on deputation with organizations such as BBMB and SJVNL, despite clear directions from the management. Other issues raised included the demand to reduce the pension commutation recovery period from 15 years to 12 years, the implementation of uniform and reasonable charges for pensioners at Board rest houses, and the immediate payment of the pending 13 percent Dearness Allowance (DA).<\/p>\n

The members unanimously resolved to urge the Chairman of the Electricity Board and the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh to personally intervene and ensure the prompt implementation of all pending commitments and pension-related benefits.<\/p>\n

The Forum leadership also called upon all pensioners to remain united and actively participate in the ongoing membership drive to strengthen the organization and its efforts for the welfare of retired employees.<\/p>\n

Among those who attended the meeting were retired Chief Engineer K.D. Khosla, N.P. Sharma, R.P. Dhiman, S.S. Dehal, R.S. Katwal, P.C. Katoch, C.L. Gupta, Shyam Lal Sharma, Kapoor Singh, P.K. Sharma, Hans Raj Gupta, Laxmi Sharma, P.R. Parashar, Jeet Ram Thakur, Lalit Mahajan, Ganga Ram Thakur, Chait Ram Sharma, Sher Singh Thakur, Jai Singh Thakur, Krishan Kumar Sharma, Vimal Sharma, Jeet Ram Verma, Laxmi Dass, Bhoop Singh Rana, Tek Singh Thakur, Gauri Ram Thakur, Rajendra Pal Thakur, Muni Lal, Shyam Lal, Yogesh Prakash, Prem Singh, Rikhi Ram, Narpat Ram, and several other members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
