Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday announced that Rs 137.40 crore has been approved for the widening and strengthening of the Chail Chowk\u2013Janjehli road in Mandi district, a move expected to significantly boost connectivity and accelerate socio-economic development in the Seraj region.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during a meeting with various delegations from the Seraj Assembly Constituency of Mandi district at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Oak Over. The delegations, led by Seraj Block Congress President Jagdish Reddy, held detailed discussions with the Chief Minister regarding developmental issues and infrastructure needs of the constituency. The delegation also extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit the Seraj Assembly Constituency.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhu reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring balanced and equitable development across all regions of Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized that strengthening road infrastructure remains a key priority for the government, particularly in disaster-affected areas.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister announced financial assistance for the maintenance and strengthening of several roads in the Seraj Assembly Constituency. These include Rs 10 lakh for the Nauna\u2013Chhalaila\u2013Vinidhar road, Rs 20 lakh for the Balichowki\u2013Khloa\u2013Sharsh road, Rs 10 lakh for the Nauna\u2013Bharari road, Rs 10 lakh for the Khanethi\u2013Khoohan road and Rs 10 lakh for the Hanogi\u2013Shaloi\u2013Chhamar road.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the significance of the Chail Chowk\u2013Janjehli road project, Sukhu said that the 83-kilometre-long road had been prioritized by the state government in view of the extensive damage caused by natural disasters in the region. The project was submitted under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), through which financial assistance of Rs 137.40 crore has now been approved.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThe completion of this project will provide a major boost to connectivity and contribute significantly to the social and economic progress of the region,\u201d the Chief Minister said.<\/p>\n

Referring to the devastation caused by recent natural calamities, Sukhu noted that the Seraj Assembly Constituency was among the worst-affected areas. He recalled personally visiting the disaster-hit regions to assess the damage and oversee relief measures. The government, he said, had extended maximum possible support to affected families.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister further stated that Himachal Pradesh had become the first state in the country to substantially enhance disaster relief assistance from its own resources. Under a special relief package introduced by the state government, compensation for fully damaged houses has been increased from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. Combined with other forms of assistance, affected families can now receive support of up to Rs 8 lakh.<\/p>\n

He added that compensation for the loss of household belongings has been enhanced from Rs 2,500 to Rs 1 lakh for homeowners and Rs 50,000 for tenants. Financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh has also been fixed for partially damaged kutcha and pucca houses.<\/p>\n

Sukhu said the government had also introduced several new provisions that did not exist earlier. Assistance of Rs 25,000 is now being provided for damage to poly-houses, while Rs 50,000 is being granted for the removal of debris and silt from affected houses.<\/p>\n

In addition, compensation for livestock losses has been significantly increased. The government now provides Rs 55,000 for the death of a cow and Rs 9,000 for the loss of a sheep or goat. A special provision of Rs 50,000 has also been made for the reconstruction of damaged cowsheds.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for allocating substantial funds for road development in the Seraj region. He stated that the constituency was witnessing unprecedented support and development initiatives under the present state government.<\/p>\n

The meeting underscored the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving connectivity and providing enhanced relief and rehabilitation support to disaster-affected communities across Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
