Intensifying its attack on the Centre over the alleged NEET examination paper leak, the Congress on Saturday demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally accountable for what it termed a major failure of the country’s examination system.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference in Mandi, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and Himachal Pradesh Congress in-charge Vidit Chaudhary alleged that the repeated incidents of examination paper leaks during the BJP-led government’s tenure had exposed serious systemic flaws in the country’s education machinery and shattered the confidence of students.<\/p>\n

Claiming that more than 90 competitive examinations had witnessed paper leak incidents since 2014, Chaudhary said while an isolated lapse due to technical failure or the actions of an individual could occur, the repeated recurrence of such incidents reflected a complete failure of the Central Government in ensuring the integrity of competitive examinations.<\/p>\n

“The alleged NEET paper leak has deeply affected lakhs of students who dedicate years of hard work to secure admission to medical colleges. Aspirants from middle-class and economically weaker families invest significant time, effort and financial resources in preparation. Many parents make tremendous sacrifices for their children’s education, making transparent and fair examinations essential,” he said.<\/p>\n

Expressing concern over the controversy surrounding the medical entrance examination, Chaudhary criticised the Union Government for what he described as its silence on the issue. He alleged that despite the matter remaining in public focus for over two weeks, neither Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan nor senior officials had accepted responsibility.<\/p>\n

Demanding Pradhan’s resignation on moral grounds, Chaudhary said accountability must be fixed to restore public confidence in the examination system. He urged the Centre to ensure that students’ futures are not jeopardised due to alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.<\/p>\n

As part of its campaign against the alleged examination irregularities, the Congress organised a peaceful awareness march from the party office to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandi. Party leaders and workers participated in the demonstration, demanding transparency, accountability and strict action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak.<\/p>\n

During the press conference, Chaudhary also announced the restructuring of the district Congress organisation. He said presidents had been appointed for all 10 block Congress units in the district, while a district executive committee comprising nearly 90 members had been constituted. Vice-presidents, general secretaries and secretaries were also assigned responsibilities to strengthen the party’s organisational structure at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

District Congress Committee president Champa Thakur also criticised the Central Government over the alleged NEET paper leak and reiterated the party’s demand for accountability from the Union Education Minister. She said students deserved a fair and credible examination process free from irregularities.<\/p>\n

The Congress leaders also targeted the BJP over the recent theft incident at the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya, demanding stringent action against those involved and questioning the law and order situation surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n

The protest and organisational announcements formed part of the Congress’s broader outreach programme in Mandi, with party leaders asserting that issues affecting students and public accountability would remain among their key political priorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
