Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated development projects worth approximately Rs. 12.08 crore in Kun Ka Tar under Kot Tungal Gram Panchayat in Mandi district, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure, improving road connectivity, and boosting regional development.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of a Bailey Suspension Bridge over the Beas River, constructed at a cost of Rs. 8.25 crore. The previous bridge was washed away during the devastating floods that struck Himachal Pradesh in 2023. The newly constructed bridge reconnects the Mandi Sadar, Jogindernagar, and Drang Assembly constituencies, ensuring safe and uninterrupted movement for thousands of residents and significantly improving transportation and economic activities in the region.<\/p>\n

The minister also inaugurated the 5.5-kilometre Jabalahi Nala\u2013Barnota\u2013Kadkoh road, built at a cost of Rs. 2.76 crore, along with the 2-kilometre Satahan road, connecting National Highway-003 at a cost of Rs. 1.08 crore.<\/p>\n

Addressing a public gathering, Vikramaditya Singh said the state government remains focused on the holistic development of rural areas by expanding road networks, improving transportation facilities, and generating employment opportunities. He emphasized that all public welfare projects are being implemented on a priority basis to ensure balanced regional growth.<\/p>\n

The minister announced that a fresh Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared for the upgradation of the Kun\u2013Jogindernagar road, paving the way for improved and safer road connectivity in the area.<\/p>\n

He further announced that all bus services on the Mandi\u2013Jogindernagar route via Kotli would be restored at the earliest. Necessary directions have already been issued to the local administration and the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to resume operations and improve public transport for residents.<\/p>\n

Vikramaditya Singh said the completion of these projects would enhance access to education, healthcare, agriculture, and other essential services while strengthening the state’s rural infrastructure. He added that the government is giving the highest priority to road development by constructing new roads and bridges, upgrading existing infrastructure, and ensuring safe, all-weather connectivity across Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The minister instructed officials to maintain high construction standards, complete projects within stipulated timelines, and ensure regular maintenance of roads with a special focus on traffic safety.<\/p>\n

Thana Paloun Power Project Receives FRA Clearance<\/h4>\n

During the event, Vikramaditya Singh announced that the Thana Paloun Power Project has received the required clearance under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and that construction work will begin shortly. He said the project would contribute to the state’s revenue while creating employment opportunities for local youth.<\/p>\n

He also revealed that the proposed Bhu-Bhu Jot Tunnel has received in-principle approval and that its Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently under preparation. According to the minister, the tunnel will significantly reduce travel time, improve connectivity in the region, and hold strategic importance from both transportation and national security perspectives.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the minister interacted with residents at the Kotli Rest House and Kun, listened to public grievances, and resolved several issues on the spot.<\/p>\n

Members of the Kotli Press Club, led by President Vasudev Sharma, General Secretary Vijay Kumar, and Secretary Hans Raj, felicitated the minister and presented their demands, to which he assured sympathetic consideration and timely resolution.<\/p>\n
