Following the Israeli government’s approval of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program, the National AI Directorate at the Prime Minister’s Office held its first official consultation meeting with representatives from Israel’s leading high-tech companies. The meeting, hosted at the Industry House and initiated jointly by the Israeli High-Tech Association at the Manufacturers Association of Israel and the National AI Directorate, marks the beginning of a series of discussions aimed at shaping the country’s AI future.<\/p>\n

The consultation forms a key part of the government’s efforts to engage the private sector in developing Israel’s national AI strategy. The discussions are intended to identify industry needs, build strategic partnerships, and explore collaborative opportunities ahead of the establishment of the National AI Institute, one of the flagship initiatives of the National AI Program.<\/p>\n

Building a National AI Ecosystem<\/h4>\n

The National AI Program seeks to strengthen Israel’s position as a global leader in artificial intelligence by investing in critical infrastructure, research, and practical implementation. Among its major initiatives are:<\/p>\n

Establishment of the National Artificial Intelligence Institute.<\/p>\n

Expanding access to advanced computing and processing infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Promoting AI-driven solutions to address national, industrial, and societal challenges.<\/p>\n

Strengthening innovation through collaboration between government, academia, and industry.<\/p>\n

During the consultation, attended by representatives from 11 of Israel’s leading technology companies, participants stressed the importance of maintaining the consultation forum as a permanent platform for dialogue between the government and the high-tech industry.<\/p>\n

Officials from the National AI Directorate also presented the Directorate’s operational vision, which aims to position Israel as a country capable of connecting cutting-edge AI technologies with real-world challenges. The planned National AI Institute is expected to support innovation across the entire AI technology stack, including cybersecurity, physical AI, advanced computing infrastructure, secure end-to-end systems, and intelligent applications that integrate digital technologies into everyday life.<\/p>\n

Vision to Make Israel a Global AI Powerhouse<\/h4>\n

The meeting also focused on the government’s broader innovation strategy, which aims to transform Israel into a global AI superpower by accelerating the development, investment, and adoption of AI technologies.<\/p>\n

Officials emphasized that the strategy will focus on matching real-world challenges with advanced AI applications capable of delivering practical solutions for industry, government agencies, and society. The approach is expected to encourage greater cooperation between public institutions and private enterprises while strengthening Israel’s competitive position in the rapidly evolving global AI landscape.<\/p>\n

Government Seeks Industry Partnership<\/h4>\n

Speaking at the meeting, Shahar Bracha, Deputy Director of the National AI Directorate at the Prime Minister’s Office, said the government is currently designing the implementation model for the National AI Program through extensive consultations with stakeholders across Israel.<\/p>\n

“These days, we are formulating the model for implementing the National AI Program and conducting consultation rounds with the entire Israeli market. The purpose of these consultations is to understand the needs on the ground, find business partners, and together build a national infrastructure that will enable Israel to grow, lead, and operate in the global market.”<\/p>\n

Bracha added that the Directorate’s long-term vision is to make Israel the world’s most attractive destination for developing AI-based solutions that directly address real-life challenges.<\/p>\n

“Our vision is to bring AI face-to-face with the challenges of life itself and make Israel the most attractive place in the world for connecting real challenges with AI-based solutions.”<\/p>\n

Industry Welcomes Early Involvement<\/h4>\n

Alon Ben-Zur, Chairman of the Israeli High-Tech Association at the Manufacturers Association of Israel and CEO of Bynet Data Communications, welcomed the government’s decision to involve industry leaders at an early stage of the program’s development.<\/p>\n

He stressed that maintaining Israel’s leadership in artificial intelligence will require close cooperation between the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n

“To ensure that Israel remains at the global forefront of artificial intelligence, the state and the industry must work together.”<\/p>\n

Ben-Zur praised the National AI Directorate’s collaborative approach and highlighted the expertise of Israeli technology companies.<\/p>\n

“Israeli high-tech companies possess world-class knowledge, experience, and execution capabilities, and we see great importance in creating a true, ongoing partnership that will translate these advantages into growth, innovation, and solutions that will impact the economy and the lives of citizens.”<\/p>\n

Leading Technology Companies Participate<\/h4>\n

The consultation brought together representatives from several of Israel’s major technology companies, including Oracle, HP, Check Point, Armis, Kaltura, Kyndryl, ELTA, Bynet, CodeValue, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), reflecting broad industry support for the government’s national AI initiative.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h4>\n

The consultation marks the first step in what the National AI Directorate describes as an ongoing engagement process with Israel’s technology ecosystem. The insights gathered from industry stakeholders are expected to help shape the structure and priorities of the National AI Institute and guide the implementation of the National AI Program.<\/p>\n
