Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday described the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a “major step” towards restoring India’s education system. He credited students across the country for what he termed a democratic victory achieved through sustained protests.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Gandhi congratulated students who participated in demonstrations, saying their determination to safeguard democracy, the Constitution and their future had yielded results. He said the resignation marked an important milestone in the effort to reform the country’s education system.<\/p>\n

“Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is a very big step towards rebuilding our education system. Well done to students across the country. I am proud of each one of you,” Gandhi said.<\/p>\n

However, the Congress leader asserted that two key demands still remain unresolved. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise to students “out of respect for India’s future” and demanded strict action against those responsible for alleged violence against protesting students.<\/p>\n

Gandhi also broadened his appeal beyond the student community, urging farmers, workers, the poor and others who, according to him, have faced hardships under the present government to stand up for their rights through constitutional and democratic means.<\/p>\n

He said that defending one’s dignity by peacefully asserting constitutional rights represents true courage and argued that the time had come for people to seek a change in government.<\/p>\n

Concluding his message with the slogan “Don’t be afraid,” Gandhi encouraged citizens to continue expressing their views through democratic and constitutional methods.<\/p>\n

The statement comes amid an ongoing political debate over education-related issues, with the Congress accusing the Centre of failing to address students’ concerns, while the government has maintained that its policies are aimed at strengthening the education sector and expanding opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
