NCC Air Wing and Army Wing Cadets Pay Emotional Tribute to the Brave Martyrs of the Kargil War.<\/h2>\n

Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed with solemnity, dignity and patriotic fervour by the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing of Vallabh Government College, Mandi. The programmes were presided over by Flight Commander and NCC Officer, NCC Air Wing, Mandi, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman.<\/p>\n

Addressing the cadets on the occasion, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman said that success is achieved through sacrifice and selfless dedication. He stated that the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces, going far beyond the ordinary call of duty, displayed unparalleled courage, valour and supreme sacrifice, thereby inscribing the victory of Kargil in golden letters in the annals of military history.<\/p>\n

He further stated that the brave Indian soldiers achieved victory in the extremely difficult and challenging geographical conditions of the Kargil region, including the Dras Sector, Tiger Hill and Tololing, by displaying extraordinary courage and unmatched valour. Approximately 527 brave personnel of the Indian Armed Forces made the supreme sacrifice in the Kargil War while defending the nation.<\/p>\n

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman highlighted the exemplary valour of the brave soldiers from Himachal Pradesh. He stated that Captain Vikram Batra, who belonged to the brave land of Himachal Pradesh, was posthumously awarded the nation\u2019s highest military decoration, the Param Vir Chakra. Similarly, Honorary Captain Sanjay Kumar, who hailed from Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, was also awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his exceptional courage and unparalleled bravery.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman laid a wreath at the Shaheedi Smarak in Mandi and paid heartfelt tribute to the brave martyrs of the Kargil War. A wreath was also laid at the symbolic Amar Jawan Jyoti installed on the college campus in memory of the brave soldiers, Junior Commissioned Officers and military officers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War. NCC cadets also paid their respects by offering flowers at the Shaheedi Smarak.<\/p>\n

During the programme, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman administered the Kargil Vijay Diwas pledge to the cadets of the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing. The cadets pledged to safeguard the unity, integrity, sovereignty and honour of the nation; to always remember the supreme sacrifice of the brave martyrs; and to make discipline, dedication, honesty, courage, the spirit of service and patriotism an integral part of their lives. They also resolved to rise above distinctions of caste, religion, language and region, strengthen national unity and brotherhood, and play a positive and responsible role in nation-building.<\/p>\n

The NCC Air Wing and Army Wing cadets also organised a number of patriotic activities on the occasion. In the speech competition organised to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas, Leading Flying Cadet Kajal of the NCC Air Wing secured the first position, Cadet Chhaya stood second, while Cadet Kumkum Sharma secured the third position.<\/p>\n

In the drill competition, the Flight of NCC Air Wing, Mandi, secured the first position, while the Contingent of the NCC Army Wing secured the second position. In addition, cadets of the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing enthusiastically participated in a poster-making competition based on the theme of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Leading Flying Cadet Piyush Rana secured the first position, Cadet Anshita stood second and Cadet Tanvi secured the third position.<\/p>\n

The cadets of the NCC Air Wing, Mandi, and the Army Wing also participated in an interaction programme and wreath-laying ceremony organised at the Shaheedi Smarak in Mandi along with ex-servicemen. The NCC cadets interacted with Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor (Retd.), Kargil War hero Brigadier Khushal (Retd.), Colonel Malhotra, Colonel Pratap Singh Chauhan, Colonel Tara Pratap Singh Rana, as well as other retired officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and veterans of the Indian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

The Additional Deputy Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Mandi, along with several other dignitaries, also participated in the wreath-laying ceremony held at the Shaheedi Smarak. The dignified programme concluded with a group photograph with the dignitaries and the singing of the National Anthem. On the occasion, NCC cadets also interacted with Veer Naris from the families of the martyrs and paid tribute to their sacrifice, courage and unwavering dedication to the nation.<\/p>\n

Wing Commander Kunal Sharma, Commanding Officer, Himachal Pradesh Air Squadron NCC, Kullu, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of the College, conveyed their best wishes to the NCC cadets on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.<\/p>\n

NCC cadets of the Air Wing and Army Wing were present in large numbers during the programme. Filled with the spirit of patriotism, discipline and national service, the cadets paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave martyrs of the Kargil War and pledged to always remember their supreme sacrifice made in the defence of the nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
