P. Radhakrishnan today flagged off the Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally involving Members of Parliament and other public representatives at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, as part of the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram, the National Song of India.<\/p>\n<p>The rally proceeded from Bharat Mandapam to Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, carrying a message of national pride, unity and active citizen participation.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President said that Vande Mataram transformed love for the motherland into a national duty and emerged as a powerful expression of the spirit of India&#8217;s freedom struggle. He recalled that its immortal words inspired generations of freedom fighters with courage, sacrifice and hope during the struggle for independence.<\/p>\n<p>Recalling his recent visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Radhakrishnan said his visit to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island and the historic Cellular Jail had been deeply moving. He recalled Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose&#8217;s hoisting of the Tricolour there in 1943 and paid tribute to the freedom fighters who were imprisoned in Cellular Jail. Many of them, he noted, went to the gallows with the cry of \u201cVande Mataram\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the nationwide influence of Vande Mataram during India&#8217;s freedom struggle, the Vice-President recalled the contributions and sacrifices of freedom fighters and leaders from Tamil Nadu, including V. O. Chidambaram Pillai, Subramaniya Siva, Tiruppur Kumaran and Vanchinathan. He also highlighted the role of national poet Subramania Bharati, who carried the spirit and message of Vande Mataram to the people.<\/p>\n<p>Radhakrishnan said the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, has evolved into a people&#8217;s movement. Citizens across the country have participated in Tiranga Yatras, bike and cycle rallies, cultural programmes and several other activities under the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Tricolour gives a visible form to the feeling of one Motherland and urged Members of Parliament and other public representatives to promote the campaign in their constituencies. He called upon them to inspire citizens to hoist the National Flag with pride and participate actively in the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.<\/p>\n<p>Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Virendra Kumar, G.
