CM Sukhu Announces Science College, Allied and Healthcare College and AIIMS-Level Ayurvedic Institute for Hamirpur.<\/h1>\n

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday announced a series of major initiatives for the education and healthcare sectors in Hamirpur, including the establishment of the state’s first Science College, an Allied and Healthcare College, and an AIIMS-level Ayurvedic Institute.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister made the announcements while presiding over the annual prize distribution function at Government College, Hamirpur, where he felicitated students for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports and other fields.<\/p>\n

Sukhu announced that Himachal Pradesh’s first Science College would be established in Hamirpur at an estimated cost of Rs. 100 crore. He said 80 kanals of land had already been identified for the institution and Rs. 20 crore had been released for the project.<\/p>\n

He also announced the establishment of an Allied and Healthcare College in Hamirpur, aimed at expanding opportunities for students in healthcare-related professional education. In another major announcement, the Chief Minister said an AIIMS-level Ayurvedic Institute would be established in the district on 74 acres of land.<\/p>\n

Hamirpur to Strengthen Its Position as Education Hub<\/h4>\n

Describing Kangra as the state’s \u201cTourism Capital\u201d and Hamirpur as the \u201cEducation Capital\u201d of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhu said students from Hamirpur had consistently brought laurels to the state at the national level.<\/p>\n

He said providing quality education was among the top priorities of his government and that systemic reforms were being undertaken to improve educational standards across Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister claimed that Himachal Pradesh had ranked 21st in quality education in 2021, during the previous BJP government, but had now improved to fifth position following reforms undertaken by the present Congress government.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernments come and go, but children studying in villages must receive quality education,\u201d Sukhu said, stressing the need to ensure that students in rural areas also have access to quality educational facilities.<\/p>\n

He said the state government had opened more than 156 CBSE schools, bringing quality education closer to rural communities. Following the opening of these schools, student enrolment had increased by around 24,000, while Rs. 80 crore had been released for their functioning and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The government was also introducing new courses for students, while more than 1,000 youths had been provided employment on compassionate grounds, he said.<\/p>\n

Policy Being Formulated to Address Teacher Shortage<\/h4>\n

Sukhu said the state government was working on a policy to address the shortage of teachers in higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

He also stressed the need for rationalisation of colleges to ensure optimum utilisation of available resources and improve the quality of education.<\/p>\n

On employment, the Chief Minister said the government was continuing efforts to provide job opportunities to young people in the government sector. Recruitment examinations were being conducted through the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and the State Selection Commission.<\/p>\n

Claiming that no recruitment examination paper had been leaked during the tenure of the present government, Sukhu alleged that paper leaks had occurred during the previous BJP government, including in the police recruitment process, and that irregularities had taken place in examinations conducted through the erstwhile Staff Selection Commission.<\/p>\n

He said the Commission was closed after the Congress government assumed office and those allegedly involved in recruitment paper leaks were arrested.<\/p>\n

Sukhu said measures had also been taken to make government recruitment more transparent and merit-based. The compulsory interview system had been removed for several recruitments, while selection was being increasingly based on merit.<\/p>\n

He added that recruitment through the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission was now based on marks obtained in written examinations as well as interviews, whereas previously greater emphasis had been placed on interviews.<\/p>\n

Focus on Healthcare and Advanced Medical Facilities<\/h4>\n

The Chief Minister said that after education, healthcare was another major priority of the state government.<\/p>\n

He said diagnostic facilities were being strengthened to enable early detection of diseases. The government had introduced robotic surgery in the state, with patients being charged Rs. 30,000 while the state government was providing a subsidy of Rs. 90,000.<\/p>\n

He also said 3-Tesla MRI machines were being installed in medical colleges to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and strengthen advanced healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n

Sukhu further said the government was promoting natural farming as part of efforts to strengthen the rural economy and improve livelihood opportunities for farmers.<\/p>\n

Message to Students: Treat Failure as an Opportunity<\/h4>\n

Addressing students, the Chief Minister urged them to move forward with confidence, determination and a positive outlook.<\/p>\n

Recalling his own student days, Sukhu said his political journey had begun with the NSUI and that he had always aspired to enter politics. He encouraged students to pursue their goals with determination, while reminding them that failure was a part of life.<\/p>\n

He said success could not be achieved every time and urged young people to treat failures as opportunities to learn, improve and discover new paths towards success.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also said that leaders of several student organisations had recently met him and assured that the state government would sympathetically consider their demands.<\/p>\n

Government Takes Firm Stand on Kishau Project<\/h4>\n

Sukhu also reiterated the state government’s position on the 422 MW Kishau Multipurpose Project, saying that the present government had rejected the earlier agreement reached during the previous BJP government.<\/p>\n

According to the Chief Minister, under the earlier arrangement Himachal Pradesh would have had to bear a significant share of the project’s power generation cost.<\/p>\n

Sukhu said his government’s firm stand had resulted in an arrangement under which Himachal Pradesh would receive around Rs. 600 crore annually in revenue without making financial investment in the project.<\/p>\n

He made it clear that Himachal Pradesh would proceed with the Kishau Multipurpose Project only after the neighbouring states file affidavits before the Supreme Court regarding payment of their share of BBMB arrears owed to Himachal Pradesh at the next hearing.<\/p>\n

Sunil Sharma Bittu Highlights Government Initiatives<\/h4>\n

Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sunil Sharma Bittu highlighted the state government’s initiatives in the education and healthcare sectors.<\/p>\n

He said the Chief Minister’s efforts had resulted in the launch of a new initiative to establish CBSE schools across the state. He also pointed to the introduction of robotic surgery and other major initiatives in the education and health sectors.<\/p>\n

Bittu also condemned the alleged lathi-charge on NEET candidates and said that the Congress Party would continue to stand with students and raise issues concerning their interests.<\/p>\n

The announcements made during the Hamirpur programme are expected to further strengthen the district’s identity as an educational centre while expanding opportunities in science, healthcare and traditional medicine for students and residents of the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
