Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday flagged off 35 electric buses in Hamirpur district, marking another step towards the state government’s efforts to promote environmentally sustainable and clean public transport.<\/p>\n

The electric buses will be deployed across various depots in Hamirpur district. The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader green mobility programme aimed at reducing dependence on conventional fuel and promoting cleaner transportation.<\/p>\n

During his visit to Hamirpur, the Chief Minister also inaugurated several development projects in the fields of agriculture, education, irrigation and public infrastructure.<\/p>\n

State-of-the-Art SRT Lab Inaugurated<\/h4>\n

Sukhu inaugurated a state-of-the-art SRT Lab at the Deputy Director Agriculture Office complex in Hamirpur. The facility has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 8.64 crore and is expected to strengthen agricultural research and technical support services in the district.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Lab at Hamirpur Degree College, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore.<\/p>\n

In addition, he inaugurated a new library equipped with 70 tablets at the college, providing students with access to digital learning resources and modern educational facilities.<\/p>\n

Book Corner and Girls’ Hostel at Degree College<\/h4>\n

The Chief Minister inaugurated a book corner at the District Library, further strengthening reading and learning facilities for students and residents.<\/p>\n

He also laid the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel at Hamirpur Degree College, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 9 crore. The hostel is expected to provide residential facilities to female students and support greater access to higher education.<\/p>\n

Lift Irrigation Schemes to Benefit 320 Farmer Families<\/h4>\n

As part of Phase-II of the Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Promotion Project, Sukhu inaugurated several lift irrigation schemes constructed at a combined cost of Rs. 3.05 crore.<\/p>\n

The schemes inaugurated include the Basol Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Nadaun area, constructed at a cost of Rs. 57 lakh; the Jasoh Lift Irrigation Scheme costing Rs. 39 lakh; the Khatrod Lift Irrigation Scheme costing Rs. 47 lakh; the Gharrat Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Sujanpur area costing Rs. 43 lakh; the Dakhol Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Hamirpur area costing Rs. 46 lakh; and the Thaon Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Barsar area.<\/p>\n

Together, these irrigation projects are expected to benefit around 320 farmer families by improving access to irrigation facilities and supporting crop diversification and agricultural productivity.<\/p>\n

Hostel at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira Inaugurated<\/h4>\n

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a hostel at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira through virtual mode. The facility has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 crore and will provide additional residential infrastructure for students at the prestigious institution.<\/p>\n

The series of inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies reflected the state government’s focus on expanding modern infrastructure across key sectors, including education, agriculture, irrigation and public transportation.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar, MLA Suresh Kumar, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, Vice Chairman of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation Ajay Verma, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Nardev Kanwar, and Vice Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh OBC Finance and Development Corporation Dr. Mohan Lal were among those present.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance were Chairman of the Kangra Cooperative Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ram Chand Pathania, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Marketing Board Kuldeep Pathania, Coordinator of the Drug De-addiction Board Naresh Kumar, APMC Chairman Ajay Sharma, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation Col. Manish Kumar, District Congress Committee Hamirpur President Suman Bharti, Congress leaders Pushpender Verma and Subhash Dhatwalia, Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashish Singhamar, and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n
