Vallabh Government College, Mandi, celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm, dignity and patriotic fervour. The celebrations witnessed an impressive display of discipline, dedication and military precision by the cadets of the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing of the college, who presented a spectacular ceremonial march-past.<\/p>\n

The flag-hoisting ceremony and march-past were conducted under the able command and guidance of Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Flight Commander and NCC Officer, NCC Air Wing, Mandi; Lieutenant Dr. Balbir Singh, Company Commander, Army Wing; and Dr. Kavita, Caretaker Officer. The overall parade was commanded with remarkable confidence and precision by Senior Under Officer Mridul of the NCC Air Wing.<\/p>\n

The Principal of the college, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and unfurled the National Flag. Following the flag hoisting, NCC officers and cadets paid a ceremonial salute to the Tricolour. The entire college campus resonated with a strong spirit of patriotism, national pride and devotion to the nation.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the two flights of the Himachal Pradesh NCC Air Squadron\u2014Armed Flight and Unarmed Flight\u2014presented an impressive march-past, showcasing their exemplary drill, discipline and ceremonial precision. The Army Wing cadets affiliated with 2 Himachal Pradesh NCC Battalion, along with the Girls\u2019 Contingent of the college Army Wing affiliated with 1 Himachal Pradesh NCC Girls Battalion, also participated enthusiastically and presented a magnificent march-past while saluting the National Flag.<\/p>\n

The Rover and Ranger Units of the college and volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) also participated enthusiastically in the celebrations, adding to the spirit and grandeur of the occasion.<\/p>\n

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony and march-past, a series of patriotic cultural programmes were organised on the college campus. Patriotic songs, speeches, poetry recitations, folk performances and traditional dances captivated the audience and added colour, emotion and vibrancy to the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Addressing the NCC cadets, students, teaching and non-teaching staff, Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar emphasised that the progress and prosperity of the nation is not the responsibility of the government alone. Every citizen has a fundamental responsibility to discharge their duties with honesty, integrity, dedication and commitment. He highlighted the importance of active participation by every section of society in the development of the nation. He further stated that the youth constitute the greatest strength and energy of the nation and that students should make discipline, patriotism, social responsibility and human values an integral part of their lives alongside academic excellence.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman said \u201cIndependence Day is not merely an occasion to hoist the National Flag or organise ceremonial programmes. It is a solemn occasion to remember the extraordinary sacrifices, struggles and contributions of the great freedom fighters and revolutionaries who dedicated their lives to securing India\u2019s freedom. We must draw inspiration from their ideals and remain ever committed to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman further stated that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) plays a vital role in developing discipline, leadership qualities, self-confidence, courage, patriotism and a sense of responsibility towards the nation among young people. He emphasised that national occasions such as Independence Day remind the youth that freedom is not merely a right but also a responsibility to protect the nation\u2019s hard-earned independence and contribute actively to nation-building.<\/p>\n

He informed that the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, commenced at 9:20 a.m. The NCC Air Wing and Army Wing cadets of the college presented a splendid march-past and demonstrated exceptional drill, discipline and dedication. He stated that the impressive performance of the cadets further strengthened the feelings of patriotism and national pride among everyone present at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Flight Commander, NCC Air Wing, Mandi, and Senior Associate NCC Officer of the college, further informed that following the college-level Independence Day celebrations, the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing contingents of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, also participated in the District-Level Independence Day Parade organised by the District Administration, Mandi, where they displayed exemplary drill, discipline and ceremonial precision.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Flight Commander and NCC Officer, NCC Air Wing, Mandi; Lieutenant Dr. Balbir Singh, Company Commander, Army Wing, Mandi; First Officer Jitendra Yadav; and the Associate NCC Officer of Girls\u2019 School, Mandi, along with other NCC officers and cadets, were prominently present.<\/p>\n

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman said \u201cThe outstanding performance of our NCC cadets is not merely a reflection of their discipline and rigorous training; it is also a testimony to the spirit of patriotism, leadership and service being nurtured at the college. We are confident that our cadets will continue to utilise their talent, energy and leadership qualities positively in various fields of nation-building and make a meaningful contribution towards taking the country to greater heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Professor Baldev Verma, Head of the Department of Political Science, graced the college Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.<\/p>\n
