The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and community participation at Gram Panchayat Sagnam in Pin Valley of Lahaul and Spiti district on Saturday. The celebrations brought together local residents, students, teachers and community representatives to commemorate the nation\u2019s Independence and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the region\u2019s unique cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
The programme was attended by Chewang Rigzin, TAC Member, former Pradhan and BDC Member of Gram Panchayat Sagnam, as the Chief Guest. Chhewang former, BPO and S.P. Bodh, Numberdar of Pin Valley were present as Special Guests.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest\u00a0 Chewang Rigzin extended his warm greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Independence Day. He expressed gratitude to the Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Amar Singh; Telling Middle School In-charge Chhering Dawa; Tangti Middle School In-charge Krishan Kumar, Telling Primary School In-charge Prem Chand; Sagnam Primary School In-charge Nwang; Mudh Primary School In-charge) Chhering Dolma, along with all the teaching staff, for inviting him as the Chief Guest on the auspicious occasion.<\/p>\n
As part of the celebrations, the Chief Guest distributed pencils and notebooks among the schoolchildren. While interacting with the students, he used the example of a notebook and an eraser to convey an important message about life. He said that just as mistakes made while writing can be erased and corrected, mistakes in life can also be rectified through self-reflection and sincere efforts. He encouraged the children not to be discouraged by their mistakes but to learn from them, correct themselves and continue moving forward with confidence.<\/p>\n
Chewang Rigzin also highlighted the development works undertaken in Pin Valley during the past over three and half years. He said that several of the development projects being completed today had been long-standing demands of the people of the valley for nearly 25 to 30 years. According to him, these long-pending demands are now gradually taking shape through the completion of various development works.<\/p>\n
He particularly expressed his gratitude to Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana for her support, guidance and direction in facilitating development works in the region. He said that several ongoing development initiatives are being undertaken with the blessings and guidance of the MLA. He also thanked the Kaza administration for extending cooperation and support in carrying out various works and addressing local issues.<\/p>\n
The Special Guests also addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of protecting the traditional culture, language and Bhoti language of the region. They urged the younger generation to take an active role in preserving the cultural identity of Pin Valley.<\/p>\n
While interacting with the children, they encouraged them to speak their native language at home and remain connected with their cultural roots. They further advised the students that whenever they come across difficult words or concepts in their language, they should ask their parents and elders about them and make a note of the information in their notebooks. They said that such simple practices can help ensure that the traditional language and knowledge are passed on to future generations.<\/p>\n
The Independence Day celebrations at Sagnam reflected not only the spirit of patriotism but also the strong community commitment towards education, development, cultural preservation and the empowerment of the younger generation. The programme concluded on a positive note, with participants reaffirming their dedication to the progress of Pin Valley and the preservation of its rich cultural heritage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
