Miyar valley Flood Situation Eases in Lahaul and Spiti as Water Levels Recede; Administration Steps Up Rescue, Relief and Road Restoration.<\/h1>\n

The flood situation in the Miyar area of Lahaul-Spiti district is gradually improving as water levels in the affected nallah continue to recede naturally. Relief and rescue operations remain in full swing in Karpatt village, with the administration focusing on the safe evacuation of stranded residents, supply of essential commodities and restoration of connectivity.<\/p>\n

Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Kunika Akers said the declining water level has brought some improvement in the situation, although authorities continue to maintain a close watch on the affected areas. She said the safety of residents remains the administration\u2019s foremost priority and arrangements are being made to provide food, medicines and other essential facilities to those affected.<\/p>\n

92 Residents Shifted to Safety<\/h4>\n

According to the administration, 95 people were present in Karpatt village when the flood situation emerged. Of these, 92 people, including seven Nepali nationals, had vacated their homes before the flood and were shifted to a relief camp at a safe location.<\/p>\n

Three people had remained stranded in the village\u2014two shepherds and a local woman. The local woman has since been safely rescued. Arrangements have been made to bring the two shepherds to safety through the ropeway after they return from grazing their sheep, goats and other livestock.<\/p>\n

Food has also been sent to the stranded shepherds through the ropeway. Adequate arrangements for food and accommodation have been made at the relief camp for the evacuated residents.<\/p>\n

Essential Rations Supplied at Relief Camp<\/h4>\n

Naib Tehsildar Vinay Rashpa, along with a Revenue Department team, provided essential ration supplies at the relief camp on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The supplies included 120 kg of rice, 80 kg of flour, 10 kg of pulses, two litres of cooking oil, two kg of turmeric, two kg of salt, five kg of onions and four kg of tomatoes.<\/p>\n

The administration is also responding to requests from villagers for essential local medicines, which are being arranged and supplied to the affected population.<\/p>\n

Officials said that, according to information received from the Patwari, no damage or other adverse information has so far been reported in connection with five houses in the area.<\/p>\n

Karpatt Bridge Still Submerged<\/h4>\n

The Karpatt bridge remains submerged, although the gradual fall in water levels is providing some relief. The ropeway in the area has also become somewhat loose, and repair work is currently underway. Officials expect the repair to be completed by Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

Once the ropeway is restored, it will provide residents with easier movement between the village and their agricultural fields, particularly while normal road connectivity remains affected.<\/p>\n

Miyar Road Open Up to 22.600 Km<\/h4>\n

Road connectivity is also showing signs of improvement. The Mayad main road is currently open to traffic up to 22.600 km.<\/p>\n

Repair work on the Udgosh Nala bridge has been completed. However, the bridge will be opened fully for traffic only after the necessary setting period. The administration expects it to be opened to vehicular movement within the next two days.<\/p>\n

At Dhundhal Nala, the ropeway is functioning properly, while vehicular movement on the road is also continuing. Authorities, however, are keeping a close watch on the water level. The road will be closed immediately as a safety precaution if the water level in the nala starts rising continuously.<\/p>\n

Mobile Connectivity Remains Unstable<\/h4>\n

Mobile network connectivity in the affected region continues to remain unstable, posing difficulties for residents and relief teams. The district administration is nevertheless maintaining continuous surveillance of the situation and coordinating relief, rescue and restoration measures.<\/p>\n

Officials said the gradual decline in water levels has brought considerable improvement to the flood-hit area, but residents are being advised to remain cautious until the situation returns completely to normal.<\/p>\n

With evacuation measures in place, essential supplies reaching the relief camp, rescue arrangements continuing for the two stranded shepherds and restoration work progressing on roads and bridges, the administration is working towards restoring normal life in the Mayad Valley at the earliest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
