The agency described the incident as a stark reminder of the continuing risks faced by children and the essential services they depend on.<\/p>\n<p>UNICEF stressed that schools are protected under international law and must remain safe environments where children can study, grow and thrive without fear of violence or harm. The agency said attacks or incidents affecting educational facilities can have consequences far beyond the immediate physical injuries, potentially undermining children\u2019s sense of security and access to education.<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations has called for a thorough investigation into the explosion so that the circumstances surrounding the incident can be established and those responsible, if identified, can be held accountable.
