CAQM Intensifies Enforcement Across NCR, Reviews 121 Inspections and Pollution-Control Compliance.<\/h1>\n

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has reviewed enforcement actions, sector-wise inspections and compliance status across the National Capital Region (NCR), reiterating the need for strict and timely action to control air pollution.<\/p>\n

The review was conducted during the 138th meeting of the Enforcement Task Force (ETF) held on August 31, covering the reporting period from August 8 to 23, 2026. During these 16 days, CAQM Flying Squads conducted 121 inspections across key pollution-generating sectors.<\/p>\n

The inspections included 10 Construction and Demolition (C&D) sites, 56 industrial units and 20 Diesel Generator (DG) sets, besides inspections in other priority areas. Based on reported violations, the ETF proposed closure of four projects\/industries, sealing of 17 DG sets, issuance of seven compliance orders\/directions, and imposition of Environmental Compensation (EC) in five cases.<\/p>\n

The meeting also reviewed compliance with decisions taken during the 137th ETF meeting. CAQM noted that all actionable cases related to industrial units, C&D activities and DG sets had been acted upon. Following verification of compliance, nine resumption orders were issued, including two for industrial units and seven for C&D projects. Of these, one order was issued in Delhi, six in Haryana and two in Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The Commission also reviewed its cumulative enforcement position as of August 31, 2026. Its Flying Squads have so far conducted inspections at 28,397 units, projects and entities across the NCR. These inspections have resulted in 1,823 Closure Directions, of which 1,473 Resumption Orders have subsequently been issued after verification of compliance.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, 126 cases have been transferred to the respective State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) or Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) for final decisions, while 224 entities remain under examination for issuance of resumption orders.<\/p>\n

CAQM stressed the need to further strengthen enforcement mechanisms, ensure timely verification of compliance and improve coordination among implementing agencies. It called for continued and intensive inspections of industrial units, C&D activities, DG sets and road works.<\/p>\n

The Commission said strict monitoring and expeditious enforcement would remain essential to ensure effective implementation of prescribed pollution-control norms and strengthen efforts to mitigate air pollution across the NCR.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
