CAQM Inspection Drive in Nuh Finds 17 of 35 Industrial Units Non-Compliant.<\/h1>\n

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted a special industrial inspection drive in Nuh district, Haryana, as part of its ongoing efforts to curb air pollution arising from industrial activities in the National Capital Region (NCR).<\/p>\n

The inspection drive was carried out on September 3, 2026, with eight Flying Squads of CAQM deployed across the district. Officials from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) and the State Administration also participated in the inspections.<\/p>\n

The teams inspected 35 industrial units and premises to assess their compliance with applicable environmental regulations and the conditions prescribed under the Consent to Operate (CTO).<\/p>\n

17 Industrial Units Found Non-Compliant<\/h4>\n

The inspection revealed several instances of non-compliance. Of the 35 units inspected, 17 were found non-compliant, 11 were found compliant, while seven units were closed or non-operational at the time of inspection.<\/p>\n

Among the 11 compliant units, 10 were assessed as fully compliant, while one unit was found compliant but was issued recommendations for further improvement.<\/p>\n

Deficiencies in Air Pollution Control Systems<\/h4>\n

The inspection teams identified a number of deficiencies related to air pollution control measures at the non-compliant industrial units.<\/p>\n

In some units, wet scrubbers were found defective or inadequately functioning, with instances of leakage and insufficient water flow. Non-functional or poorly maintained Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) systems were also detected.<\/p>\n

The teams further observed inadequate stack and chimney arrangements at certain units, including insufficient stack heights for boilers and thermic fluid heaters.<\/p>\n

Fugitive Dust Control Measures Found Inadequate<\/h4>\n

Several industrial premises were also found lacking adequate measures to control fugitive dust emissions.<\/p>\n

The inspection teams observed conveyor belts without proper covering, inadequate water sprinkling and dust suppression systems, insufficient boundary windbreakers and unpaved internal roads. These deficiencies were contributing to the generation and spread of fugitive dust within industrial premises.<\/p>\n

Non-compliant diesel generator (DG) sets were also found operating at some units.<\/p>\n

Use of Unapproved Fuels and Monitoring Gaps<\/h4>\n

The inspection drive also detected instances of wood being used or burned for industrial operations and the use of unapproved liquid fuels in boilers and thermic fluid heaters.<\/p>\n

In some units, the required Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System (OCEMS) had not been installed. The inspection teams also found cases where stack emission monitoring reports were outdated or had not been submitted as required.<\/p>\n

Operations Beyond Consent Conditions<\/h4>\n

The inspection teams found instances where boilers, thermic fluid heaters and other machinery were being operated without being covered under the applicable Consent to Operate conditions.<\/p>\n

Dense smoke and fumes were also observed inside certain industrial premises and shed areas during the inspections.<\/p>\n

CAQM Stresses Strict Compliance<\/h4>\n

According to the preliminary assessment, the violations identified at the 17 non-compliant units included inadequate air pollution control systems, fugitive dust emissions, operation of non-compliant DG sets, use of unapproved fuels, absence of required emission monitoring systems and violations of CTO conditions.<\/p>\n

CAQM has reiterated that all industrial units operating in the NCR must strictly comply with applicable environmental norms and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n

This includes maintaining effective air pollution control equipment, ensuring adequate fugitive dust suppression, using only approved fuels, maintaining compliant DG sets, installing and operating required emission monitoring systems and adhering to all applicable CTO conditions.<\/p>\n

The Commission emphasized that special inspection drives are an important mechanism for assessing compliance on the ground and identifying deficiencies requiring timely corrective action.<\/p>\n

CAQM stated that it will continue conducting intensive inspection drives across the NCR to identify violations and ensure that necessary corrective and enforcement action is taken by the concerned agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
