In a notable advancement for cooperative management within the fisheries sector, the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE) and the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 26, 2024. This strategic alliance aims to support the establishment of 200,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, and fishery cooperatives across every Panchayat in India.<\/p>\n

The partnership seeks to improve the integration of advanced technology and promote value addition within fishery cooperatives, enhancing the sector\u2019s overall effectiveness. The MoU was signed at ICAR-CIFE\u2019s Mumbai campus, with Dr. Ravishankar CN, Director and Vice Chancellor of ICAR-CIFE, and Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, presiding over the ceremony. Both institutions will collaborate on research, training, and capacity-building initiatives to advance cooperative management practices in fisheries.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ravishankar CN emphasized the significance of the MoU, stating, \u201cThis partnership will not only strengthen our research capabilities but also expand our impact through innovative training programs. We are eager to explore the advancements in cooperative management that this collaboration will bring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Hema Yadav highlighted the benefits of the partnership, noting, \u201cJoining forces with ICAR-CIFE is a pivotal step towards embedding cooperative management principles into the fisheries sector. This collaboration will harness our combined expertise to drive innovation and improve industry practices.\u201d<\/p>\n
