A sacred offering, a long journey and a meeting that brought Himachal\u2019s ancient Dev tradition into a unique spiritual dialogue with Sri Sathya Sai.<\/h2>\n

In the hills of Himachal Pradesh, where faith and tradition are deeply woven into everyday life, a remarkable spiritual exchange unfolded at the Sri Sathya Sai Samagam in Mandi. A sacred offering sent on behalf of Devta Maheshwar travelled nearly 250 to 300 kilometres from Pujarli village of Rohru subdivision in Shimla district before reaching Paddal Ground in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on September 27, creating a poignant moment of cultural and spiritual connection.<\/p>\n

The offering was not merely a contribution to a religious gathering. It carried with it the sentiments, traditions and blessings associated with the ancient Dev culture of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The episode began when Professor Yogendra Verma, State President of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, Himachal Pradesh, informed R.J. Ratnakar that sacred traditional garments and a contribution from the treasury of Devta Maheshwar were being sent for the Samagam.<\/p>\n

The information generated special interest. R.J. Ratnakar expressed his desire to personally meet the people who were travelling from a distant part of Himachal Pradesh to Mandi carrying the sacred offering on behalf of Devta Maheshwar. He conveyed that he wished to meet the representatives and receive the offering from them personally.<\/p>\n

A Journey of Faith from the Hills to Mandi<\/h4>\n

On September 27, Radhakrishan Namta,\u00a0 Harish Negi and Bhuvinder reached Paddal Ground in Mandi after travelling approximately 250 to 300 kilometres.<\/p>\n

They had undertaken the journey carrying the sacred traditional garments and contribution sent on behalf of Devta Maheshwar. Upon their arrival, they met R.J. Ratnakar and presented the offering to him.<\/p>\n

The meeting also drew the attention of the Director of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation\u2019s Radio Sai team, who interacted with the representatives and learnt about the significance of the offering and the journey undertaken to bring it to Mandi. The Radio Sai team expressed happiness on learning about the gesture.<\/p>\n

For the representatives of Devta Maheshwar, the journey represented an opportunity to carry the blessings and sentiments of their deity to a major spiritual gathering. For those associated with the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, the gesture became a meaningful expression of respect for Himachal Pradesh\u2019s distinctive Dev tradition.<\/p>\n

Where Ancient Dev Tradition Met Spiritual Devotion<\/h4>\n

The meeting at Paddal Ground became a memorable moment because it brought together two expressions of faith from different spiritual traditions.<\/p>\n

Himachal Pradesh is renowned for its rich Dev culture, in which local deities have traditionally remained closely connected with the cultural and social life of communities. The offering from Devta Maheshwar reflected this living tradition and its continuing relevance in the lives of devotees.<\/p>\n

The Sri Sathya Sai Samagam, meanwhile, brought together devotees in an atmosphere centred on spirituality, service and devotion.<\/p>\n

Against this backdrop, the presentation of the sacred offering became a symbolic meeting point between Himachal\u2019s traditional Dev culture and the spiritual world associated with Sri Sathya Sai.<\/p>\n

152 Days, Hundreds of Villages and a Record of Himachal\u2019s Dev Culture<\/h4>\n

The connection between the Samagam and Himachal\u2019s Dev tradition was further reflected in a special exhibition organised at Paddal Ground.<\/p>\n

The exhibition documented the journey of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba\u2019s divine chariot, which travelled through different villages, towns and districts of Himachal Pradesh over a period of 152 days.<\/p>\n

During the journey, the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation undertook an initiative to document the names of the local deities associated with the areas visited by the chariot.<\/p>\n

The respective district presidents of the organisation were entrusted with the responsibility of collecting the names of the Devi-Devta worshipped in their regions. They gathered the information from their respective areas, compiled the names and submitted the lists to the organisation.<\/p>\n

The names collected during this extensive exercise were subsequently displayed at Paddal Ground, offering visitors a glimpse into the extraordinary diversity of Himachal Pradesh\u2019s traditional Dev culture.<\/p>\n

A Cultural Story Told Through Faith<\/h4>\n

The exhibition and the Maheshwar Devta offering together added a distinctive dimension to the Samagam. They reflected not only religious devotion but also the cultural richness of a mountainous State where local traditions have been preserved across generations.<\/p>\n

The journey of the three representatives carrying the sacred offering from the abode of Devta Maheshwar to Mandi became, in many ways, a journey connecting communities, traditions and faith.<\/p>\n

The significance of the moment lay not only in the offering itself but also in the sentiment behind it\u2014the desire to share the blessings of Devta Maheshwar with a gathering devoted to spiritual values.<\/p>\n
