CM Directs Power Department to File Affidavit for Taking Over 66 MW Dhaulasidh Project.<\/h1>\n

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Power Department to file an affidavit before the court for taking over the 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project, being constructed on the Beas River by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL).<\/p>\n

Presiding over a meeting of the Power Department, the Chief Minister said that the state government was ready to pay the first instalment towards the cost of the project to facilitate its takeover in the interest of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Sukhu said the state government would not compromise on the interests of the people of the state and remained committed to protecting the state’s wealth and natural resources. He added that the government was also making earnest efforts to take over the Luhri and Sunni hydro power projects from SJVNL.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of various under-construction hydro power projects in the state and directed the concerned officials to expedite their construction within a time-bound schedule so that the people of Himachal Pradesh could derive maximum benefit from the projects.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, officials informed the Chief Minister that the 450 MW Shong Tong Power Project is expected to become fully operational by September next year following the commissioning of its three turbines. It was also informed that a power purchase agreement would be signed with the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) for the electricity generated by the project.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister further reviewed the construction of the 66 KV transmission line from Pooh to Samdo and from Samdo to Kaza and directed officials to accelerate the pace of work.<\/p>\n

He also reviewed the progress of the 2 MW Rangrik Solar Power Project, which is equipped with a 1 MWh battery energy storage system. He directed that the project be made functional before the onset of snowfall. He said that the project should remain operational during the snowfall season to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the area.<\/p>\n
