Helicopter services connecting Sanjauli in Shimla with Rampur and Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district will commence on October 21, 2026, providing an alternative mode of transportation for residents of remote and difficult-to-access areas of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

A state government spokesperson said the service would operate three days a week\u2014Monday, Friday and Saturday. The initiative aims to improve regional air connectivity and reduce travel difficulties for people living in far-flung areas of the state.<\/p>\n

According to the schedule, the helicopter will depart from Sanjauli at 9.55 am and reach Rampur at 10.30 am. It will then leave Rampur for Reckong Peo at 10.50 am, arriving there at 11.25 am.<\/p>\n

For the return journey, the helicopter will depart from Reckong Peo at 11.30 am and reach Rampur at 12.05 pm. The flight from Rampur to Sanjauli will depart at 12.10 pm and arrive at 12.45 pm.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the service was being introduced following Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s visit to the Rampur area of Shimla district, during which he interacted with local residents and recognised the need to strengthen transportation facilities for people living in remote areas.<\/p>\n

Considering the difficulties faced by residents and their transportation requirements, the Chief Minister had announced the introduction of helicopter services between Sanjauli and Rampur. Following his directions, Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) has sought to commence helicopter operations on the Shimla-Rampur route under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the service would provide an alternative means of reaching Shimla and help ease travel-related difficulties for residents of Rampur and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN 5.1, routes connecting Shimla, Rampur, Reckong Peo, Kullu, Manali, Mandi and Chandigarh have been awarded to Heritage Aviation and Pawan Hans Limited.<\/p>\n

Heritage Aviation is currently operating regional connectivity flights on the Shimla-Reckong Peo, Shimla-Kullu-Shimla and Chandigarh-Mandi via Kullu routes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Pawan Hans Limited operates helicopter services between Shimla (Sanjauli) and Chandigarh three days a week under the RCS. An additional flight operates once a week under the State Regional Connectivity Scheme, for which the state government bears 100 per cent of the Viability Gap Funding (VGF).<\/p>\n

The government provides approximately Rs. 35.70 lakh per month in VGF for this additional service. These arrangements ensure air connectivity between Chandigarh and Shimla on all seven days of the week.<\/p>\n

The introduction of the Sanjauli-Rampur-Reckong Peo service is expected to further strengthen the state’s regional aviation network and improve transportation options for residents of remote Himalayan areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
