The SPU Inter-College Annual Athletic Meet\u20132026 commenced with great enthusiasm and ceremonial splendour at Vallabh Government College, Mandi. The prestigious sporting event was inaugurated by Sunita Singh, Director of Higher Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The college campus witnessed an atmosphere filled with sportsmanship, discipline, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the inaugural ceremony was an impressive and spectacular march past organised under the leadership of Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Flight Commander, NCC Air Wing Mandi and Associate NCC Officer (ANO). The NCC cadets displayed exemplary discipline, synchronised marching and military precision, adding dignity and grandeur to the occasion. They were joined by male and female athletes representing 13 colleges affiliated with Sardar Patel University, who enthusiastically participated in the march past, proudly representing their respective institutions.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Sunita Singh, Director of Higher Education, and felicitated her by presenting a memento as a token of respect and appreciation.<\/p>\n

Director of Higher Education Emphasises Discipline, Perseverance and Sportsmanship<\/h4>\n

Addressing the gathering, Sunita Singh, Director of Higher Education, encouraged the participating athletes from various colleges, along with the NCC Air Wing and Army Wing cadets of Vallabh Government College. She emphasised that hard work, perseverance, a positive outlook and discipline are essential for achieving higher goals and aspirations in life.<\/p>\n

She observed that sports are not merely a means of physical fitness and competition but also play a vital role in shaping an individual’s personality, building self-confidence, developing leadership qualities and strengthening a sense of collective responsibility.<\/p>\n

She further stated that victory and defeat are not the ultimate measures of sporting excellence; rather, true sportsmanship, dedication and the determination to continuously improve one’s performance are of far greater significance. She encouraged students to actively participate in sports alongside their academic pursuits, emphasising that sports contribute to a healthy body, a sound mind and the development of a strong nation.<\/p>\n

Extending her best wishes to all the participating athletes, she motivated them to demonstrate their abilities with commitment, discipline, sincerity and true sporting spirit.<\/p>\n

Principal Highlights the Significance of Inter-College Sports Competitions<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, stated that the SPU Inter-College Athletic Meet provides an excellent platform for students to showcase their sporting talents while fostering mutual harmony, healthy competition and leadership qualities.<\/p>\n

He expressed immense pride in the fact that Vallabh Government College, Mandi, had been entrusted with hosting this prestigious university-level sporting event. He reaffirmed the college administration’s commitment to providing the best possible facilities to participating athletes and distinguished guests and ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the competition.<\/p>\n

He extended a warm welcome to all participating colleges, athletes, coaches and members of the organising committee and wished the event every success.<\/p>\n

Sports Promote Character Building, Leadership and Responsible Citizenship: Flying Officer Dr. Chaman<\/h4>\n

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Media Coordinator of the SPU Inter-College Annual Athletic Meet\u20132026 and Flight Commander, NCC Air Wing Mandi, stated that sports serve as a powerful medium for developing discipline, self-confidence, leadership, perseverance and team spirit among young people.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the fundamental objective of the NCC and sporting activities is to inculcate the values of character building, national service, leadership and responsible citizenship among youth.<\/p>\n

He further observed that the athletic meet provides students from different colleges with a valuable opportunity to showcase their sporting abilities, gain competitive experience and learn from one another. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the university administration, college management, sports organising committee, NCC officers, cadets, faculty members and all other stakeholders for their valuable cooperation and contribution towards the successful organisation of the event.<\/p>\n

Spectacular March Past Captivates the Audience<\/h4>\n

The march past emerged as one of the most impressive highlights of the inaugural ceremony, with NCC cadets demonstrating exceptional discipline, coordination and military traditions.<\/p>\n

Senior Under Officer (SUO) Mridul Singh of the NCC Air Wing served as the Overall Parade Commander. The NCC Air Wing Flight was led by Cadet Warrant Officer Yuvraj Singh.<\/p>\n

The NCC Army Wing cadets participated under the leadership of Company Commander Lieutenant Dr. Balbir Singh, while the Army Wing contingent was commanded by Under Officer Abhishek.<\/p>\n

All the contingents displayed remarkable coordination, precision and disciplined marching, earning appreciation from the distinguished guests and the audience.<\/p>\n

Vallabh Government College Athletes Shine in the Opening Events<\/h4>\n

The athletes of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, made an impressive start to the competition by delivering outstanding performances in the opening events.<\/p>\n

In the Men’s 1500-metre race, Ishan Thakur of Vallabh Government College secured first position, bringing laurels to the institution. His college mate, Pratham, secured second position, while Pushpraj of Government College, Kullu, finished third.<\/p>\n

In the Women’s 1500-metre race, Anjali Thakur of Government College, Kullu, clinched first position. Vartika of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, secured second position, while Anshika Chauhan of Government College, Jogindernagar, finished third.<\/p>\n

Sporting Events Conducted on the First Day<\/h4>\n

Providing details of the first day’s competitions, Dr. Anju Pathak, Organising Secretary of the Athletic Meet, informed that various track and field events were conducted in both men’s and women’s categories.<\/p>\n

The events included 1500-metre, 100-metre, 400-metre and 800-metre races, shot put, triple jump, javelin throw and 4\u00d7100-metre relay, among other athletic competitions.<\/p>\n

She stated that athletes from different colleges across the region were participating with great enthusiasm, dedication and true sporting spirit.<\/p>\n

More Than 160 Athletes from 13 Colleges Participate<\/h4>\n

More than 160 male and female athletes from 13 colleges are participating in the SPU Inter-College Annual Athletic Meet\u20132026. The participating institutions include:<\/p>\n
