Chief Minister also announces Rs. 1,500 monthly assistance for eligible women under new welfare scheme; says government is committed to strengthening rural economy.<\/h2>\n

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday announced the opening of a Civil Court at Chowari in the Bhatiyat Assembly constituency of Chamba district. He also announced the establishment of CBSE-affiliated schools in the area and financial assistance of Rs. 10 crore for various road development projects in the constituency.<\/p>\n

The announcements were made while addressing a large public meeting at Chowari Chowgan. The Chief Minister said the state government would launch the \u2018Mukhyamantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana\u2019 from next month to provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,500 per month to eligible women belonging to economically weaker families.<\/p>\n

Under the proposed scheme, beneficiaries would also receive 300 units of free electricity per month and free medical treatment through health insurance cards. He said approximately 20,000 women from 10,000 eligible families in the Bhatiyat constituency would benefit from the initiative.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the government’s efforts to strengthen the rural economy, Sukhu said his government had introduced several initiatives to improve farmers’ and livestock owners’ incomes. The state was providing a minimum support price of Rs. 150 per kg for raw turmeric, Rs. 80 per kg for wheat and Rs. 50 per kg for maize. Similarly, the procurement price of cow milk had been increased to Rs. 61 per litre and buffalo milk to Rs. 71 per litre.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister said the government was also prioritising improvements in healthcare infrastructure. An allocation of Rs. 190 crore had been made for the smooth functioning of Chamba Medical College, where 32 postgraduate seats had also been provided.<\/p>\n

On education, he said the government had recruited more than 2,700 teachers on merit and was upgrading over 100 schools to the CBSE pattern. At least two to three CBSE-affiliated schools were being established in every Assembly constituency to improve educational opportunities in rural areas. He claimed that Himachal Pradesh had improved its education ranking from 21st position in 2021 to fifth position in 2025.<\/p>\n

Criticising the previous BJP government, Sukhu alleged that several educational and health institutions had been opened without adequate staff. He also referred to the state’s financial challenges, including the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) by the Central Government. He said the government was pursuing resource mobilisation and eliminating corruption to achieve self-reliance.<\/p>\n

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said the present government had ensured balanced development across Chamba district. He highlighted initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana and Mukhyamantri Green Panchayat Yojana. He also appreciated the increase in financial assistance for rebuilding houses completely damaged in natural disasters from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 8.5 lakh.<\/p>\n

A two-minute silence was observed during the meeting to pay tribute to Nand Lal, MLA and Chairman of the Seventh State Finance Commission, who passed away on Wednesday, and Youth Congress leader Chandermani Kulethi, who recently lost his life in a tragic incident.<\/p>\n
