The BJP\u2019s \u2018Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy\u2019 march witnessed a massive turnout in Mandi on Wednesday, with thousands of party workers and local residents participating in the protest against what the party described as the Congress\u2019s negative and disruptive politics. The march was led by former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, who launched a sharp attack on the Congress and its allegations of \u2018vote theft\u2019.<\/p>\n

The march started from Paddal Ground and culminated at Seri Manch, where a public meeting was organised. Addressing the gathering, Thakur praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s leadership, stating that India was progressing towards development, transparency, good governance and a stronger democracy.<\/p>\n

Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Thakur alleged that the opposition questioned the credibility of electoral institutions whenever election results went against it. He said allegations of vote theft were misleading attempts to undermine public confidence in the democratic process.<\/p>\n

Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Thakur said the exercise was intended to ensure that no ineligible voter was included and no genuine voter was excluded. He alleged that the Congress was opposing the process because it could identify and remove illegal entries.<\/p>\n

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Thakur questioned the Congress government’s decision to protest against the Election Commission despite Sukhu himself having been elected through the same electoral system. He challenged the Chief Minister to resign if he genuinely doubted the functioning of the Election Commission.<\/p>\n

Thakur also criticised the state government over its handling of the economy, alleging that despite increasing debt, development activities had come to a standstill. He accused the Congress of failing to fulfil its earlier guarantees and described its announcements regarding new districts as politically motivated.<\/p>\n

He further criticised the Chief Minister over his response to the death of a Congress MLA, alleging insensitivity. Thakur expressed confidence that the BJP would win all 10 Assembly seats in Mandi district and return to power in Himachal Pradesh with a strong majority.<\/p>\n

Senior BJP leaders Suresh Bhardwaj, Govind Singh Thakur and rally convenor and MLA Rakesh Jamwal also addressed the gathering. Other prominent attendees included party general secretary Payal Vaidya, MLAs Vinod Kumar, Inder Singh Gandhi, Daleep Thakur, Purna Chand and Deep Raj, district BJP president Nihal Chand Sharma and Sundernagar leader Hira Lal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
