Defence Forces Must Maintain Highest Operational Readiness to Counter Emerging Threats: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.<\/h1>\n

Calls for stronger cyber resilience, domain awareness and information integrity during interaction with Air Force personnel at Bagdogra; describes \u2018Second Tour of Duty\u2019 as a significant Diwali gift for Agniveers.<\/h1>\n

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called upon the Defence Forces to maintain the highest level of operational readiness, with particular emphasis on strengthening domain awareness, cyber resilience and information integrity to effectively counter emerging security threats.<\/p>\n

Interacting with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel at Air Force Station, Bagdogra, West Bengal, on November 7, on the eve of Diwali, the Defence Minister said the security environment had become increasingly complex, with modern warfare extending beyond conventional border engagements to include asymmetric warfare, proxy wars, cyberattacks, drone swarms, information operations and narrative management.<\/p>\n

He cautioned that adversaries were increasingly attempting to exploit vulnerabilities without engaging in direct confrontation. Through social media and other platforms, they could spread misleading information to create doubts among local communities and military personnel.<\/p>\n

In this changing security environment, he said, the responsibilities of Defence Forces personnel extended beyond conventional military duties and required greater awareness, vigilance and preparedness across multiple domains.<\/p>\n

Air Warriors at Bagdogra a Shield for Eastern Sector<\/h4>\n

Describing Bagdogra as a strategically important location and a crucial link in India’s security framework, particularly for the North-Eastern region, Rajnath Singh appreciated the courage, dedication and professionalism of the Defence Forces personnel deployed there.<\/p>\n

He said the Air Warriors stationed at Bagdogra served as a robust shield for the security of the eastern sector and that their operational preparedness was fundamental to maintaining regional stability.<\/p>\n

The Defence Minister emphasised that discipline and courage would remain indispensable qualities of military personnel, irrespective of technological advancements.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted that the conduct, bearing, language and restraint demonstrated by Defence Forces personnel played an important role in shaping the image of the military among local communities.<\/p>\n

Appreciating the personnel for maintaining these values, he encouraged them to strengthen their engagement with people, particularly in and around Bagdogra, and nurture the bond of trust and mutual respect between the local population and the armed forces.<\/p>\n

He observed that stronger relations between the military and local communities would help counter attempts by adversaries to create divisions and spread misinformation.<\/p>\n

Focus on Indigenous Defence Technology<\/h4>\n

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Defence Minister highlighted the growing contribution of Indian start-ups and domestic industries in developing drones, anti-drone systems and advanced military equipment.<\/p>\n

He appreciated the Defence Forces for adopting indigenous technologies and acquiring new skills in drone operations and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

He stressed that making the military increasingly technology-driven was essential to address future security challenges and maintain an effective response capability against emerging threats.<\/p>\n

Second Tour of Duty a Diwali Gift for Agniveers<\/p>\n

Referring to the Cabinet’s approval of the ‘Second Tour of Duty’ for Agniveers, Rajnath Singh described the decision as a significant Diwali gift for them.<\/p>\n

He said the initiative would provide Agniveers with another opportunity to serve the nation. Upon completion of the two-year engagement period, all Agniveers would get an opportunity to be enrolled as regular soldiers, subject to their willingness and fulfilment of the prescribed selection criteria.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that the government remained committed to the welfare of Defence Forces personnel and their families.<\/p>\n

Defence Minister Extends Diwali Greetings to Air Warriors<\/h4>\n

Rajnath Singh extended Diwali greetings to the Air Warriors and their families, wishing them good health, happiness and prosperity.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged that military personnel often remained away from their families during festivals while performing their duties to safeguard the country.<\/p>\n

He expressed gratitude to their family members for their sacrifices and contributions, assuring them that while soldiers remained committed to protecting the nation’s borders, the country would always stand firmly with their families and work towards their well-being.<\/p>\n
