The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) marked its 83rd Foundation Day with a celebration highlighting its pivotal role in India\u2019s journey towards sustainable development and innovation. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh hailed CSIR as “a national treasure” and a “true changemaker of our time” during the ceremony held at the NASC Complex, Pusa.<\/p>\n

Dr. Singh emphasized that the Indian government’s focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat has empowered CSIR to lead in critical sectors such as healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and agriculture. He expressed confidence that institutions like CSIR are essential to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which aims for a developed and self-reliant India.<\/p>\n

The Minister acknowledged the leadership of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, the chief guest at the event, praising his unwavering support for scientific advancements. He highlighted the importance of nurturing innovation and scientific inquiry to bolster national ambitions.<\/p>\n

Among the notable achievements discussed was the “Purple Revolution” in Jammu and Kashmir, which has transformed the region through the cultivation of lavender. This initiative, part of CSIR’s Aroma Mission, has empowered farmers and fostered a thriving ecosystem of Agri-startups, contributing significantly to local prosperity.<\/p>\n

The event featured a leadership conclave where former CSIR Directors General shared insights on the organization’s future contributions towards Viksit Bharat 2047. Dr. Singh also recognized Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former ISRO chairman, for his inspirational role in advancing India’s space program.<\/p>\n
