The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Vallabh Government College organized a one-day seminar titled “Valuing the Voice of Teachers: Towards a New Social Contract for Education” to commemorate International Teachers’ Day. The event featured Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, the department head, as the keynote speaker.<\/p>\n

In his address, Dr. Chaman highlighted the importance of International Teachers’ Day, celebrating the dedication and influence teachers have on their students’ lives. He poignantly read Abraham Lincoln’s famous letter to his son\u2019s teacher, underscoring the enduring value of education and mentorship.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chaman also presented a research paper on “Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Views on Education.” He emphasized Ambedkar\u2019s belief that education is vital for self-respect and social empowerment, noting its role in liberating the oppressed and combating caste-based discrimination. Quoting Ambedkar, he remarked, \u201cThe ultimate goal of man should be the development of his mind,\u201d reinforcing education as a cornerstone of social equality.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Dr. Chaman highlighted Ambedkar’s slogan: “Be Educated, Organise, Struggle,” showcasing the transformative potential of education in advocating for societal reform. He also pointed out Ambedkar’s commitment to universal education, especially for women, as essential for societal progress.<\/p>\n

The seminar also paid tribute to the 1966 UNESCO recommendation on the Status of Teachers, which established international standards for their rights and responsibilities. International Teachers’ Day serves as a platform to recognize the challenges educators face globally.<\/p>\n

Students from the Department, including Bandana Thakur, Shivani, and many others, shared their insights during the event, reflecting the collective appreciation for teachers’ invaluable contributions to society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
