Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, inaugurated the World AIDS Day 2024 commemoration at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Auditorium in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in the presence of Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cTake the Rights Path,\u201d highlights the need for equal rights, dignity, and access to healthcare, especially for individuals living with or affected by HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n

Nadda reiterated India\u2019s commitment to combating the HIV\/AIDS epidemic, celebrating the country\u2019s significant strides. He noted that new HIV infections in India had decreased by 44% since 2010, with AIDS-related deaths declining by 79%. He emphasized the need for caution, healthy behavior, and greater awareness to combat stereotypes associated with the disease.<\/p>\n

“World AIDS Day is a moment to remember those who have fought against the disease and lost their loved ones,” Nadda said. He further underlined India’s progress, from having no medicine for AIDS to becoming a global supplier of affordable HIV treatment.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mohan Yadav also reaffirmed the state\u2019s commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2028, ahead of the global target of 2030. He highlighted the state\u2019s healthcare achievements, including the expansion of medical colleges and the successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.<\/p>\n

The event featured the launch of NACO\u2019s theme song and the release of several key reports, including the India HIV Estimates 2023 Technical Report and the Sankalak 6th Edition. The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Madhya Pradesh\u2019s Deputy Chief Ministers, Members of Parliament, and representatives from the World Health Organization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
