The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun, marked World Braille Day today in honor of Louis Braille\u2019s 216th birth anniversary. The event, aimed at raising awareness about the significance of Braille and empowering visually impaired individuals, was a tribute to Braille\u2019s vision of transforming darkness into light.<\/p>\n

A key highlight of the celebration was the virtual release of the book \u2018Standard Bharati Braille Codes\u2019 by Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). This comprehensive guide to standardized Braille unicodes in India is set to revolutionize accessibility for visually impaired individuals, offering a much-needed resource for Braille education and use.<\/p>\n
