In a significant move to raise awareness about the health benefits of medicinal plants, the Ministry of Ayush on Thursday launched a nationwide campaign titled “Shatavari \u2013 For Better Health.”<\/em> The initiative, aimed at promoting the traditional plant\u2019s health benefits, was inaugurated by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, in the presence of key officials including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO of the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), and other senior representatives.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch, Minister Jadhav praised the Ministry\u2019s ongoing efforts over the past decade in advancing the cause of medicinal plants and improving public health. He particularly lauded the NMPB\u2019s previous campaigns for plants like Amla, Moringa, Giloe, and Ashwagandha, which have successfully raised public awareness about the diverse benefits of these plants. Jadhav emphasized that the Shatavari \u2013 For Better Health<\/em> campaign aims to further these efforts and bring the benefits of Shatavari to the forefront, particularly in the context of women’s health.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe role of Shatavari in improving women\u2019s health is crucial, and it directly supports India\u2019s larger vision of achieving the Panch Pran<\/em> goal, as outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech in 2022,\u201d said Jadhav. He noted that Shatavari, recognized for its health-enhancing properties, is an important step in achieving the broader mission of making India a developed nation by 2047, especially in terms of improving the health and well-being of women.<\/p>\n

Shatavari, a medicinal plant renowned for its numerous health benefits, is particularly beneficial for women\u2019s health, boosting immunity, and offering support during various stages of life, such as pregnancy and menopause. The plant\u2019s medicinal properties have been celebrated for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic practices.<\/p>\n

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, elaborated on the Ministry\u2019s efforts to promote sustainable practices and the conservation of medicinal plants, including Shatavari, through the Central Sector Scheme for the Conservation, Development, and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants. He outlined how the scheme aims to preserve these vital resources for future generations while fostering their cultivation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO of NMPB, discussed the significant medicinal importance of Shatavari, highlighting its ability to promote women\u2019s health, enhance immunity, and support overall well-being. He also emphasized the plant\u2019s agro-economic potential, detailing that financial assistance of Rs. 18.9 lakh would be available to eligible organizations for implementing the campaign and raising awareness nationwide.<\/p>\n

The Shatavari \u2013 For Better Health<\/em> campaign is part of the Ministry of Ayush\u2019s larger mission to promote the health benefits of medicinal plants and traditional medicines. The campaign is expected to reach a wide audience across India, ensuring that more people become aware of the health benefits of Shatavari and its role in enhancing public health, especially for women.<\/p>\n
