A dramatic avalanche struck a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp in the high-altitude village of Mana, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, leaving 55 workers trapped under heavy snow. As of late evening, rescue teams have managed to save 33 workers, but the remaining 22 are still unaccounted for, with the search operations temporarily halted due to worsening weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Uttarakhand’s Disaster Management Secretary, Vinod Kumar Suman, confirmed the rescue of 33 of the 55 trapped labourers, but expressed growing concerns over the safety of the remaining 22 as nightfall descended on the snow-covered terrain. The situation remains tense, with rescue teams racing against time to locate the trapped workers before the weather deteriorates further.<\/p>\n

In an earlier update, it was reported that 57 workers were feared to be trapped in the avalanche. However, a correction was made by Suman, who clarified that two of the workers were on leave at the time of the incident.
