Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri took part in the second grand Shobha Yatra of the International Maha Shivaratri Festival 2025 today, an event that attracted thousands of devotees and cultural enthusiasts from across the region. The procession, which commenced at the Raj Madhav Rai Temple in Mandi town, was a vibrant display of faith, culture, and tradition, with over 200 local deities participating in the festivities.<\/p>\n

Before joining the procession, Agnihotri visited the temple and paid his respects through prayer. The grand procession, filled with traditional deities adorned in cultural attire, set off from the Raj Madhav Rai Temple and made its way to the Paddal Ground, where it culminated in a lively gathering. The deities danced to folk tunes, captivating the crowds and enriching the festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n

In his address at Paddal Ground, Agnihotri underscored the significance of the Mandi Shivaratri festival, which has earned national and international recognition for the state. He clarified that while the government supports the maintenance and renovation of temples using public funds, no temple donations are ever taken by the state. “Baseless claims by individuals with distorted mindsets are being spread,” Agnihotri said, adding that the government\u2019s efforts to preserve temples through restoration were aimed at enhancing their cultural and historical value.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister praised the contribution of Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar and the Mandi district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, for their efforts in making Mandi Shivaratri a globally recognized event. Agnihotri also revealed plans to continue hosting the annual Beas Arti and explore the creation of a Beas Arti Ghat, strengthening the long-term cultural and religious significance of the region.<\/p>\n

The rally traveled through Mangvain, Chakkar, Nerchowk, and concluded in Dadaur, with Agnihotri himself participating and urging citizens to drive with caution. “Drive with caution, not in haste,” he emphasized, calling for continuous awareness campaigns to ensure road safety.<\/p>\n
