In a major stride towards education reform, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today flagged off a delegation of 70 teachers from across the state for an international educational tour to Singapore. This initiative is part of the government\u2019s ongoing efforts to modernize and globalize the state’s education system.<\/p>\n

The delegation includes teachers from various categories and districts, selected to gain international exposure and advanced training. The visit is part of a broader collaboration between the Himachal Pradesh government and the prestigious Principals Academy in Singapore, aimed at enhancing teaching methodologies and professional development.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu said, \u201cWe are committed to transforming the education landscape of Himachal Pradesh. By 2032, we envision becoming the leading state in the country in terms of quality education.\u201d<\/em> He emphasized that such global exposure initiatives not only broaden the teachers’ perspectives but also directly benefit students through improved teaching practices.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the achievements of his government over the past two years, the Chief Minister referred to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2025<\/em>, which placed Himachal Pradesh at the top nationwide for reading proficiency among students. He noted that several key parameters now show the state as a front-runner in school education.<\/p>\n

CM Sukhu also announced plans to revise the school curriculum, introducing General Knowledge as a subject, and stated that a new education policy focused on holistic student development would soon be adopted. \u201cWe are taking bold steps \u2014 from curriculum reforms to infrastructural improvements and quality-based teacher training,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also lauded the competence of government school teachers and mentioned that a study would be conducted to understand the causes behind declining enrolment in some institutions. He reiterated the government’s focus on strengthening education through flagship schemes such as Mukhyamantri Sukhashraya Yojana<\/em>, Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana<\/em>, Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools<\/em>, and the establishment of centres of excellence<\/em>.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, CM Sukhu presented educational kits to the teachers and expressed hope that the tour would inspire them to bring back innovative teaching practices to their classrooms.<\/p>\n

Education Minister Rohit Thakur, also present at the event, shared that this marks the fourth batch of teachers sent to Singapore, bringing the total to 267 so far. \u201cThis isn\u2019t just a tour; it\u2019s a visionary move toward creating a transformative impact in our education system,\u201d he stated. The minister added that government school students have also been part of international educational exposure trips, reflecting the state\u2019s commitment to inclusive and modern education.<\/p>\n

The Education Secretary, Rakesh Kanwar, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of teacher training in improving student outcomes. He underlined the department\u2019s ongoing innovations under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan<\/em> and commended the role of teachers as the foundation of quality education.<\/p>\n

State Project Director Rajesh Sharma delivered the vote of thanks, while MLA Sanjay Awasthi, Additional Director BR Sharma, and several senior officers were also in attendance.<\/p>\n
