{"id":433,"date":"2024-03-31T11:07:07","date_gmt":"2024-03-31T11:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theeaglenews.in\/?p=433"},"modified":"2024-03-31T11:07:07","modified_gmt":"2024-03-31T11:07:07","slug":"peru-president-house-raided-in-search-for-rolex-watches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theeaglenews.co.in\/?p=433","title":{"rendered":"Peru President house raided in search for Rolex watches."},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><h1>Peru President house raided in search for Rolex watches.<\/h1>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Peru:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Police have raided\u00a0 house of Peru President Dina Boluarte as part of a corruption inquiry dubbed Rolexgate.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The police were searching for more than a dozen Rolex watches President Boluarte had allegedly not declared.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The investigation began after a news report drew attention to luxury watches she wore at public events, dating from when she took office in December 2022.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Peru government described the raid on Saturday as disproportionate and unconstitutional.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;The political noise that is being made is serious, affecting investments and the entire country,&#8221; Peruvian Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen wrote on X.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The government comptroller had announced earlier this month it would review President Boluarte&#8217;s asset declarations from the past two years.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">President refuted the corruption charges against her. She said that her Rolex was an old item that she bought with the proceeds of working since she was 18.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ms Boluarte, a former lawyer, became president almost by accident after her predecessor, Pedro Castillo, was impeached following his attempt to dissolve Congress and rule by decree.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peru President house raided in search for Rolex watches.
