CM Sukhu Urges Embracing Lord Buddha\u2019s Teachings for a Harmonious Society.<\/h1>\n

On the sacred occasion of Buddha Purnima, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu called upon people to imbibe the teachings of Lord Buddha in their daily lives to foster a compassionate, peaceful, and vibrant society. He was speaking at a programme organized at the Sambhota Tibetan School in Shimla on Monday.<\/p>\n

Extending his heartfelt greetings on the auspicious day of Vaishakh Purnima, which marks the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha, the Chief Minister emphasized the relevance of the Buddha\u2019s teachings in the modern era.<\/p>\n

\u201cLord Buddha gave us the mantra \u2018Appa Deepo Bhava\u2019, which means \u2018Be your own light\u2019. It is a timeless message of self-reliance and inner strength that continues to guide us in our journey towards a self-reliant India,\u201d CM Sukhu said.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the enduring significance of the Buddha’s philosophy, the Chief Minister noted, \u201cIn an age dominated by violence, intolerance, and unrest, Lord Buddha’s message of peace, compassion and tolerance shows us the way forward. These values are not just teachings, but a way of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling the spiritual importance of Buddha Purnima, CM Sukhu said that the convergence of three significant events\u2014Lord Buddha\u2019s birth, enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana\u2014on this single day makes it especially sacred and inspirational.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister also shared a personal connection with the Sambhota Tibetan School, reminiscing about his days as a Municipal Councillor in Shimla and the memories of playing cricket with his friends in the school grounds during winter vacations. \u201cThis institution holds a special place in my heart,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented the India-Tibet Friendship Award to Tshering Palkit Negi and Pema Dorjee, recognizing their efforts in strengthening cultural and social ties between India and Tibet.<\/p>\n

A vibrant cultural programme showcasing the rich traditions of Tibet, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti was also performed, adding color and fervor to the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Among those present at the event were Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, Chief Representative of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile Lhakpa Tsering, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, and other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n

The programme highlighted the continuing relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings and the importance of nurturing peace and harmony in today\u2019s fast-paced world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
