Himachal Pradesh Promotes Adventure Tourism: CM Flags Off 12th Edition of MTB Himalaya Cycle Race.<\/h1>\n

In a significant move to boost adventure tourism in the state, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off the 12th edition of the MTB Himalaya cycle race from the historic Ridge in Shimla today. The event is being organized by the Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASPTA) in collaboration with Himachal Tourism, Heatrex Tyres, and the Cycling Association of Himachal Pradesh (CAHP).<\/p>\n

Over 100 elite cyclists from across India, including national champions and international-level riders, are participating in this prestigious mountain biking event. The race route includes the Prologue Heritage Ride (Ridge-IIAS-Ridge), and stages covering Kufri-Chail (XCM) and Shimla-Summerhill-Potters Hill (XCO), culminating on May 18, 2025.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the importance of such events in showcasing Himachal Pradesh\u2019s vibrant culture, heritage, and natural beauty to the world. He underlined the relevance of cycling in today\u2019s era, describing it as a health-friendly, environmentally sustainable, and adventurous form of recreation and transport.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the state government’s commitment to promoting adventure tourism, the Chief Minister announced the development of dedicated cycling tracks across various locations in Himachal Pradesh. \u201cInstructions have already been issued to identify suitable routes, and cycling tracks will soon be constructed in Shimla as well,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He also shared updates on other tourism-related infrastructure projects, including the construction of an international-standard ice-skating rink in Shimla at a cost of Rs. 37 crore, and the widening of Shimla\u2019s circular road to ease traffic congestion.<\/p>\n

In line with Himachal Pradesh\u2019s larger vision for sustainable development, the Chief Minister reiterated the state’s goal of becoming a Green Energy State by March 31, 2026. \u201cHimachal is set to lead in green hydrogen production, with a one-megawatt plant under construction in Nalagarh in collaboration with Oil India Limited,\u201d he revealed. He added that within the next year, only green energy will be utilized across the state.<\/p>\n

The event also featured an exhilarating cycle stunt show by world champion Lakshay Jangid, followed by a stirring performance by the Indian Army Band, adding fervor to the occasion.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Mohit Sood, Chairman of HASPTA, welcomed the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for his continued support in promoting adventure sports and tourism in the state.<\/p>\n

The event witnessed the presence of MLAs Harish Janartha and Sudarshan Babloo, Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, various councillors, and senior officials including Nardev Kanwar, Chairman of the HP Buildings and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
