The Seventy-eighth session of the World Health Assembly (WHA78), the premier decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), is convening in Geneva, Switzerland from May 19 to 27, under the timely and unifying theme \u201cOne World for Health.\u201d<\/strong> The session brings together high-level representatives from WHO\u2019s 194 Member States, global health leaders, and development partners at a pivotal time for international health policy.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme reinforces WHO\u2019s enduring commitment to equity and solidarity, emphasizing that all people, everywhere, must have an equal opportunity to live healthy lives\u2014even in times of global crises.<\/p>\n

Defining Moment: Adoption of the Pandemic Agreement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A historic highlight of WHA78 is the expected adoption of the Pandemic Agreement<\/strong>, a landmark international accord aimed at preventing a repeat of the global disruption caused by COVID-19. Developed through three years of intensive negotiations by WHO\u2019s Intergovernmental Negotiating Body, the agreement marks only the second time a proposal has been brought forward under Article 19<\/strong> of the WHO Constitution, which allows the agency to create legally binding agreements on global health.<\/p>\n
