The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Study Centre, Mandi, held a comprehensive online induction programme to welcome and orient students newly admitted to the academic session of 2025. The initiative aimed to familiarize learners with the university\u2019s academic framework, its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model, and a wide range of support services and learning resources.<\/p>\n

The event was presided over by Dr. Rajkumar Thakur, Coordinator of IGNOU Study Centre, Mandi. In his inaugural address, Dr. Thakur emphasized IGNOU\u2019s commitment to democratizing education. \u201cIGNOU is a leading institution committed to ensuring equal opportunities and wide access to quality education for learners of all ages and backgrounds,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Participants were given a detailed overview of the academic and administrative processes essential for successful learning under the ODL system. This included insights into the admission procedure, programme structure, assignment submission, examination methods, and the use of digital resources like eGyanKosh, SWAYAM, and the IGNOU mobile app.<\/p>\n

Key academic counselors and faculty members also addressed the gathering. Dr. Mahender Singh, Assistant Coordinator at the Mandi Study Centre, highlighted the academic support available at the centre. Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Counselor for Journalism and Mass Communication, offered in-depth guidance on handling the practical manual and conducting project work for the MAJMC programme. Dr. Monika, Counselor for the School of Education, gave a structured lecture on how to write project synopses and manage various phases of academic project development.<\/p>\n

The programme culminated in an interactive Question & Answer session, enabling students to clarify doubts and engage directly with academic staff. Hundreds of students from different parts of the country participated enthusiastically through online platforms, reflecting IGNOU\u2019s pan-India reach and accessibility.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rajkumar Thakur, along with Dr. Mahender Jamwal, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Dr. Monika, and administrative staff members Banita Kumari and Manpreet Kaur, played a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective conduct of the event.<\/p>\n
