Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister\u00a0Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu<\/strong> declared on today that the state government would release water from the Kishau Dam<\/strong> only after pending BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) arrears<\/strong> are cleared by the neighbouring states. Addressing a massive public gathering at Dehuri in Banjar<\/strong>, during his two-day tour of Kullu district<\/strong>, the Chief Minister made it clear that Delhi and Haryana must first settle the 14-year-old dues<\/strong> before any cooperation on water sharing moves forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not against sharing water, but our rightful dues must be paid first. Let the neighbouring states file an affidavit in the Supreme Court promising payment. Himachal Pradesh\u2019s interests come first,\u201d said CM Sukhu.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

Major Announcements for Banjar: Day Boarding School and Milk Processing Plant<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In a significant push for rural education and agricultural value addition, CM Sukhu announced:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • A Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School<\/strong> based on the CBSE curriculum<\/strong> for Banjar.<\/li>\n
  • A milk processing unit<\/strong> with a 10,000-litre daily capacity<\/strong>, aimed at boosting the local dairy economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u201cThese are not symbolic institutions; we are committed to quality. Our focus is on appointing trained teachers and improving facilities, not just laying foundation stones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

    He also reiterated the government\u2019s education reforms<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Creation of the Directorate of School Education (Class 1 to 12)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Introduction of English-medium classes<\/strong> in government schools.<\/li>\n
    • Holistic improvement in infrastructure and academic quality across rural areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n

      Sharp Criticism of Previous BJP Government<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      CM Sukhu strongly criticized former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur<\/strong>, accusing him of \u201csquandering public wealth\u201d and distributing Rs 5,000 crore worth of electoral freebies<\/strong> without backing them with real infrastructure or staff.<\/p>\n

      \u201cThe previous regime opened institutions without staffing them. It led to a fall in education standards. Our government is fixing what was broken,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

      He also took aim at BJP leaders for making baseless corruption allegations and claimed the party was now splintered into five factions<\/strong>. \u201cThey ignored the people even during the devastating 2023 natural disaster<\/strong>, while our government stood by the victims and changed policies to help them,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

      Disaster Relief, Farmer Support, and Rural Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Highlighting the government\u2019s disaster response in Kullu, CM Sukhu shared that the state helped rehabilitate 223 completely and 853 partially damaged houses<\/strong> in the region after the 2023 floods. Compensation was significantly increased:<\/p>\n

      • From Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh<\/strong> for completely damaged houses.<\/li>\n
      • From Rs 0.5 lakh to Rs 1 lakh<\/strong> for partially damaged houses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Other farmer- and rural-focused reforms included:<\/p>\n

        • Increased support price for cow milk<\/strong> from Rs 32 to Rs 51 per litre<\/strong>, and for buffalo milk<\/strong> from Rs 47 to Rs 61 per litre<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        • Minimum support price for maize<\/strong> grown through natural farming set at Rs 40\/kg<\/strong> and wheat at Rs 60\/kg<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        • A transport subsidy<\/strong> of Rs 2 per litre for dairy farmers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Additionally, a Rs 100 crore budget<\/strong> has been allocated under the Rajiv Gandhi Forest Conservation Scheme<\/strong>, ensuring the participation of Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals<\/strong> in afforestation efforts.<\/p>\n

          Banjar: A Priority Region for Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          MLA Sunder Singh Thakur<\/strong> and Chairman of APMC Kullu Ram Singh Mian<\/strong> praised the Chief Minister for prioritizing Banjar and Kullu. They lauded his hands-on leadership during the disaster<\/strong> and his initiatives in promoting e-vehicles<\/strong>, environmental protection, and rural upliftment.<\/p>\n
