BJP\u2019s chief spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal has launched a sharp critique against the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu -led Himachal Pradesh government, calling its two-and-a-half-year tenure a period of \u201cmisgovernance, false promises, and administrative stagnation.\u201d His comments come in response to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu\u2019s recent statement celebrating his government\u2019s performance at the halfway mark of its term.<\/p>\n

Jamwal accused the state government of betraying public trust by failing to deliver on its promises. \u201cThis is not a celebration of development, but a mockery of people\u2019s pain and disillusionment,\u201d he said. He claimed that the so-called “systemic change” promoted by the Chief Minister has translated into halted development, rising public dissatisfaction, and lack of meaningful communication with citizens.<\/p>\n

Highlighting financial mismanagement, Jamwal pointed out that the state’s debt has grown steadily, yet no concrete long-term financial plan is in sight. He questioned how a government that struggles to pay salaries on time can talk about economic self-reliance. He also criticized the handling of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), saying it helped win the election but remains vague and unimplemented.<\/p>\n

The BJP leader further alleged that youth were misled on the promise of jobs, and that employment support has been minimal. \u201cNeither jobs, nor assistance \u2013 just disappointment,\u201d he added. He also raised concerns over alleged corruption in transfers and postings of officials, calling it a mockery of transparency.<\/p>\n

Jamwal accused the Sukhu government of focusing more on political confrontation with the Centre than on governance. He said that central schemes beneficial to Himachal Pradesh have either been delayed or neglected due to political hostility, leading to missed opportunities for development.<\/p>\n

Taking aim at the government\u2019s media strategies, Jamwal remarked that while ministers are active on social media, there\u2019s little real progress visible on the ground. \u201cThey are re-inaugurating projects initiated by the previous BJP government just for photo ops,\u201d he said. He also criticized the state\u2019s increasing tax burden, citing the imposition of water tax, property tax, and sanitation fees as examples that have strained the common citizen.<\/p>\n

Mocking the Chief Minister\u2019s remark that \u201cevery challenge has been turned into an opportunity,\u201d Jamwal retorted, \u201cThe people of Himachal have only faced problems and hardships during these two and a half years.\u201d He concluded by saying that the public is no longer confused and now clearly sees the government\u2019s failures \u2013 a sentiment he believes will be reflected in the next election.<\/p>\n
