Vallabh Government College Selected Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan: A New Chapter in Rural Development.<\/h1>\n

Vallabh College gets UBA Project; Moving Towards Social Responsibility Alongside Education.<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Under the Government of India\u2019s flagship initiative\u00a0Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), Vallabh Government College, Mandi, has been officially listed as a participating institution. This initiative aims to involve higher educational institutions in the process of sustainable rural development and improving the quality of life in villages through community engagement and innovation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tara Devi Sen, Principal Investigator & Head, Department of Botany Vallabh government college Mandi stated that as part of this project, the college has adopted five villages from District Mandi \u2014 Nasloh, Larwahan, Sadayana, Baggi, and Thanaut \u2014 with the vision to bring positive change at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

To ensure the success of this mission, a dedicated team of five faculty members has been formed:<\/p>\n

Dr. Tara Devi Sen, Principal Investigator and Head, Department of Botany<\/p>\n

Dr. Deepali Ashok and Dr. Suraj Mani, NSS Programme Officer<\/p>\n

Prof. Anita, Department of Mathematics<\/p>\n

Dr. Arvind Kumar, Department of Tourism<\/p>\n

Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Environmental Science<\/p>\n

The college and its students will work on the following five key themes in the adopted villages:<\/p>\n

Organic Farming and Rural Entrepreneurship:<\/p>\n

Encouraging farmers to adopt organic practices and promoting small-scale village-based entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Health, Nutrition, and Sanitation:<\/p>\n

Conducting awareness campaigns on cleanliness, balanced diets, and healthy living practices.<\/p>\n

Education and Digital Literacy:<\/p>\n

Promoting education, especially among women and children, and introducing basic digital tools like mobile and computer usage.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Living and Traditional Knowledge:<\/p>\n

Creating awareness about conserving natural resources and reviving age-old traditional practices for sustainable living.<\/p>\n

Livelihood Generation through Local Resources:<\/p>\n

Identifying local plants, crafts, and resources to help communities create income-generating opportunities.<\/p>\n

“The faculty team and student volunteers will work closely with the community in the coming days to implement these themes and bring tangible, positive change” said Dr. Tara.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar \u00a0shared\u201c This initiative is in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) and represents a meaningful step towards fulfilling the social responsibility of academic institutions. It will give students real exposure to rural life and contribute to their holistic development.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The core philosophy of this mission is “Vocal for Local”, and the college aims to walk this path by promoting traditional wisdom, empowering communities, and using local resources for sustainable development.
