In a major step toward rebuilding Himachal Pradesh after the devastating natural disasters of 2023, the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a Rs. 2006.40 crore “Recovery and Reconstruction Plan”<\/strong> for the state. The move comes as a significant relief package aimed at restoring infrastructure, rebuilding disaster-affected areas, and strengthening the state\u2019s preparedness for future calamities.<\/p>\n

The decision was sanctioned by a High-Level Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah<\/strong>, under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). The package was announced following the extensive damage caused by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts<\/strong> in various parts of the state last year.<\/p>\n

Rakesh Jamwal<\/strong>, Chief Spokesperson of BJP Himachal Pradesh, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President J.P. Nadda for their unwavering support. He stated that the central government’s response during times of crisis has consistently demonstrated BJP\u2019s core philosophy of service, solidarity, and swift action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“This relief package is not just a financial response to a natural calamity\u2014it\u2019s a strategic move to make Himachal Pradesh more resilient to future disasters,” Jamwal emphasized. He noted that the funds will not only aid in reconstruction and rehabilitation<\/strong> but will also focus on disaster risk reduction measures<\/strong>, ensuring long-term safety for residents in vulnerable areas.<\/p>\n

The plan will prioritize the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure including roads, bridges, public buildings, and essential utilities<\/strong>, as well as implementing disaster mitigation projects<\/strong> in high-risk zones.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Himachal package, the central government has released a total of Rs. 20,264.40 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)<\/strong> for 28 states and Rs. 6,160.76 crore under the NDRF<\/strong> for 19 states for the fiscal year 2024-25, showcasing the Modi government\u2019s comprehensive and proactive approach to disaster management across India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The BJP affirmed that the people of Himachal Pradesh are not alone in this challenging time. “This is not just a reconstruction plan\u2014it is a restoration of trust<\/strong> that the central government stands firmly with Himachal, today and always,” Jamwal concluded.<\/p>\n
