The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the recent loss of life and the reported mistreatment of children during the Saba Saba protests held across Kenya. In a heartfelt statement released today, UNICEF extended its condolences to all families affected by the violence, particularly highlighting the tragic death of a young girl who was fatally struck by a stray bullet while inside her home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe especially extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of a young girl who was tragically killed by a stray bullet while in her own home,\u201d the agency said. The child, whose identity has not yet been disclosed for privacy reasons, is believed to have been caught in the crossfire during clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

UNICEF also raised serious concerns over reports indicating that children were among those arrested during the nationwide demonstrations.
